Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! We made it to the end of February! I donā€™t know about you, but this month moved a lot faster than January, which I was very happy about. I feel like we are getting closer to the end of a very long winter. Some months are more eventful than others, but Iā€™m afraid this month is not as exciting as past months, but it was still good nonetheless and filled with some travel, lots of VERY good books, and catching up on shows. Hereā€™s what the past 28 days looked like.

What Iā€™m Up To: This month involved some time outside for walks when I could, but February was an icy month.

I got away for a long weekend which was so fun and much needed.

I got away for the long weekend and the change of scene was so nice!
I got to see the Atlantic Ocean again while I was away too!
And made it home safe and sound!

I also got to celebrate Valentineā€™s Day leading up to and on the day.

I also got a haircut and switched up my hair style

What Iā€™m Reading: I had such a good reading month! I canā€™t wait to share some of my favorite reads

The Secret Book of Flora Lea- The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patt Callahan is all about two sisters in World War II who get sent to live with another family during the war. One of the sisters goes missing and years later the other sister reads a book that contains all the made-up stories she told her sister growing up. After all these years, is her sister still alive and where has she been? This was a great historical mystery. Mix and Match Mama picked it for her January Book Club and I devoured it!

From Here to the Great Unknown– Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough wrote this memoir about their lives and Elvisā€™. I learned so much about the Presley family and life behind the camera. It was so fascinating and led me to listen to some Elvis music because of it. Such a good read!

Leading WomenLeading Women by Nancy O’ Reilly is a compilation of essays written by women for women. They highlight the struggles and victories women encounter in life, businesses, and in careers. I read it over the course of a few days, but I think it would be better read a little bit every day and not all at one time.

The Lazy Genius Kitchen– Kendra Adachiā€™s second book, The Lazy Genius Kitchen is all about the best way to use your kitchen. She goes through ways to organize and essentialize your kitchen that works for you. She also breaks down different kitchen terms and phrases. If you are a kitchen pro or you have never had your own space, I highly recommend this book.

Half Marathon: You Can Do It– Jeff Gallowayā€™s Half Marathon: You Can Do It is a beginnerā€™s guide to running and running a half marathon. I am planning to run a half marathon this summer and learned so much from this book especially when it comes to training and preparing. He talks about his run-walk method and proper ways to train and prepare for a race. I found myself taking notes and photos as I was reading.

The Art of Stillness- As someone who is always on the go, this book really forced me to slow down. I read it when I was traveling and I found it fascinating to learn the importance of slowing down. The Art of Stillness by Pico Iyer

Young and RestlessYoung and Restless by Mattie Kahn was a book I had on my shelves for ages and I just got around to it. It’s all about different girls who made their mark on history in different ways. I loved learning about these women’s stories and the impact they had on society. A great topic as we enter Women’s Empowerment month.

What Iā€™m Watching: A lot of my favorite shows came back for new seasons, so I spent time catching up on several shows.

Night Agent- Season 2 of The Night Agent on Netflix  brought new characters, a new mission, and lots of edge on your seat moments. The first half of the season was a bit confusing and slow with lots of new characters, but the end of the season tied all the storylines together. The finale opened the door for new questions and a new mission.

Sweet Magnolias– After an intense show like The Night Agent, I needed a pallet cleanser and Sweet Magnolias on Netflix provided that for me. This season had lots of sweet and unexpected moments and even some drama. I liked seeing how some of the relationships unfolded and how the characters grew from different situations. Overall, a good season.

Scamanda– I listened to the podcast about Scamanda in 2023 and was excited to learn a documentary would be made about it through ABC. I really enjoyed the four part series. It was interesting to put names with faces and I think the creators did a great job at covering everything the podcast did and more.

American Manhunt- O.J. Simpson– My boyfriend and I watched this four part series about O.J. Simpson. I have always known about the O.J. case and I liked the light this series shined on Simpson and his case. I really liked how they interviewed some of the key people for this series on Netflix.

Masked SingerThe Masked Singer is back for season 13. This hour-long show always provides a good laugh and keeps me guessing who’s under the mask. There have been some pretty good reveals so far this season and Iā€™m excited to see who wins it all!

What Iā€™m Cooking/Baking: This month has been filled with a mix of baking and cooking!

I almost got this mug but held off

Homemade Brownies– I made Ina Gartnerā€™s outrageous brownies. They were good but not great. Iā€™ve tried a few different homemade brownie recipes and have yet to land a winner. Until then, Iā€™ll keep trying different recipes.

Grilled Cheese and Homemade Tomato soup- We have had a stretch of cold weather and soup and grilled cheese is a perfect go-to. I tried Emily Leyā€™s homemade grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was so easy and hit. I canā€™t wait until her cookbook comes out!

Roasted Shrimp and Orzo– Another Ina Garten recipe for the win. I made her Roasted Shrimp and Orzo and really liked it. It was healthy and filling and very easy and can be made in any season.

Cheese and Spinach Bake– I made the bake as a side dish one night and it was so filling and healthy too. The recipe is from Brunch with Babs. Itā€™s spinach, cheddar cheese, and cottage cheese with some egg. This would be great for a brunch or a dip!

Baked Chicken with Sweet Potatoes and Salad-A filling Sunday night dinner with lots of nutrients.

French Silk Pie was a new recipe for me and it was a hit!

Margarita Chicken Soup is always a good call on a cold day!

Homemade Hummus and Chicken Gyros- It was Greek night with lots of tasty and savory bites!

Chicken Caesar Club Sanwichs– This was such a hearty and tasty meal that was a hit!

What Iā€™m Wearing:

Since February is the month of love. I tried my best to wear as much red, pink, purple, and white as possible.

Layers for cold days
All pink for Valentine’s Day
A more casual look
The neutrals for more winter weather

What Inspires Me:

After such a gloomy and gray winter, any day with sunshine is good day! I also have been inspired by putting more of an emphasis on my health by going on more walks and making healthier choices too!

Some reading inspiration
And some love inspiration for the month of love!
Some desk inspiration and motivation

What I Accomplished– I am still making my way through my Winter Bucket List, but I still have things that need crossed off over the next few weeks.

I got out for some outdoor running time!

Goals from Last Month– I was able to see all my friends for some one-on-one dates, virtual, and in-person. I also got to celebrate Valentineā€™s Day and do some traveling too!

Some cute Valentine’s Day details
And some sweet treats!

Goals for Next Month– I am READY for warmer weather, getting ready for spring and to see my brothers who will be home for Spring Break!

Thatā€™s a look into life as of late. A lot of time indoors, self care, and some socializing. Iā€™m looking forward to brighter days ahead. What about you?! How was your February!? What were some highlights for you? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Wednesday!

Look of the Day #63

LOTD

Todayā€™s outfit is all about sporty chic. Donā€™t get me wrong, I love to dress up for work and other outings as well as look cute when I am out and about. I found the perfect mix for both sporty and chic with this workout outfit.

When I havenā€™t been working, I have been on the go, running errands, or dropping my siblings off at sporting events. Sometimes, I feel like I am a soccer mom especially when I am in this workout outfit and dropping them off at practice in a mini van! Haha!!!

Always on the go

So here are the details, I got this workout shirt from Nike. I like how it is loose fitting and longer, it is not skin tight, and it is very breathable. Not to mention, it is also very comfortable. These are all qualities that I am looking for when I am shopping for workout clothes. I also love the white, I can wear this top with so many outfits. I can wear them with athletic shorts in the summer, leggings in the winter, or crop pants in the spring or fall. Ā I love to mix and match them.

Trying to be sporty

I got these black shorts from MarleyLilly, my favorite part about them? They are monogrammed!! How cute are my initials on these shorts!? These shorts go perfect with my white workout top. These shorts are good quality and the monogram dresses them up a bit, you can wear these shorts out and about and not look like you are heading to the gym.

Monogrammed shorts

And if I didnā€™t love monogrammed things enough, my black baseball hat is also monogrammed. This hat can be worn with other outfits and not just sporty ones, but I liked tying in all my black and white and monograms in one look.

Monogrammed hat

These sneakers are also practical for running errands or being out and about. Although, they are not matching the black and white, they certainly go with the sporty look. I got mine from the Nike store. These are my go-to sneakers for the gym. They are comfortable and long lasting. I have had them for three years and are still pleased with them.

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m wearing on the go and in the gym. Where are you favorite places to get athletic wear from?

Look of the Day #51

LOTD

Hi All!

Iā€™m super excited for todayā€™s postā€¦.wanna guess why?! First, Iā€™m hours away from being done with my sophomore year of college. Only one final today and although, I am working till Saturday it will good just to hang out with friends for a few days before summer starts. Second, it FINALLY feels like Spring. Yes, this whole week has been in the 70ā€™s and 80ā€™s. I am so happy, to be finally wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts. This winter has been too long! Spring is here and have never been happier!

Springing into Spring

Now, onto this springy outfit. I wanted to wear an outfit that could work both in the chilly morning but warm afternoon. I got these shorts from Old Navy. I love Old Navyā€™s shorts. There are not only comfortable, but they are a good length. Not too long and not too short. I got these pair in black and tan, so I can wear them with a variety of tops. I got my black and white Ā¾ length shirt from Old Navy as well. I have worn it with jeans or leggings in the past, but I love wearing it with a pair of shorts. I am always cold and try to wear a sweater with most outfits, this long sleeve shirt does the trick for solving that issue.

Lastly, my shoes are my go-to converse for spring. They are not only cute but also comfortable. And matched my outfit great for my black and white combo.

I am so happy spring finally sprung, its time for good vibes only once I am done with this last final. I cant wait to start dressing more springy now that it is finally acting like spring. To all the moms out there have a wonderful and hopefully relaxing day with your kiddos!

See you next week for a VERY special post.

Look of the Day #39

LOTD

Itā€™s Thursday!! We are halfway through February! This month is going by too fast. This was a very busy week, but I got a lot of fun things planned for the weekend.

Today, I have a different out for you look of the day. Last week I had a lot of meetings which meant a lot of dressing up. Hereā€™s an example of a business casual look I wore for an interview. I had a lot of these pieces already in my wardrobe it was just a matter of putting them all together. I wanted to look professional for my interview, but it also was the last thing of the day following a full day of classes with not enough time to change. I wore this outfit to all classes and then to an interview and dinner. I was comfortable the entire day and felt good about what I was wearing.

A more formal look for today.

I wore my simple black shoe boots from DSW. I chose these since they were comfortable, professional, and simple. I wore a pair of black tights to go with my simple, black cotton dress.

I got this dress from Old Navy a few years ago just to have as an extra dress and Iā€™m surprised how much Iā€™ve worn it. I have worn it to Mass, Work Interviews, Class Presentations, even Funerals. I have gotten a lot of wear out of this dress and it was one of the smartest purchases Iā€™ve made.

In order to break up the all lack of color, I wore a winter white sweater from the Scandal Style from The Limited Collection. I also paired a long necklace and pearl earrings to top off the look.

I am always looking for new ways to pull outfits together. When it comes to solid colors, you can mix and match them. Thereā€™s no better feeling than pulling a new outfit together with things you already have. I hope this draws some inspiration for the next time you wear a little black dress out.

Have a wonderful weekend!

One of my favorite Christmas gifts. Definitely will be used with the snowy weather

Happy Thursday! How has your week been? Getting adjusted to being back to work after the holidays? Ready for the weekend?

Snow has been falling nonstop for the past few days. Life these days has been filled with snow covered streets and below freezing temperatures. Welcome to the East Coast!

Iā€™m sharing a fresh look of the day. For those who live where snow falls more than half the year, or if you are used to more temperatures in the 30ā€™s rather than the 80ā€™s then this post is for you. Planning a ski trip to the mountains, keep on reading. Ā Iā€™m giving you a peak into my favorite winter essentials.

One of my favorite Christmas gifts. It will be keeping me warm in the snow

No matter the weather, a heavy coat is crucial. I got this coat for Christmas and it is not only stylish but warm. I got it from L.L. Bean. It can keep you warm from 0 to below 50 degrees. Ā It is well insulated and well keep you warm walking to class or heading into work. Plus, who doesnā€™t love a big fur hood to keep your head warm.

Favorite boots and cabin socks

Another winter essentials I canā€™t live without are snow boots. We all love our Uggs but they can get ruined after constantly walking through the snow. These boots from Sperry, but I got them for sale at DSW, not only keep my warm but are stylish. Add a pair of warm cabin socks and you have yourself a stylish outfit. I love pairing boot socks and short Sperry boots together. These cabin socks are another favorite winter essential.

I wore a pair of hounds tooth leggings with this outfit with a black blouse. I wanted to dress up this print leggings. Be on the lookout for that outfit in the upcoming weeks. This outfit kept me warm on a day with freezing temperatures. Also, I couldn’t end this post without a shout out to my cousin, Grace for taking these fantastic photos. She did phenomenal especially in the freezing cold. What are your must haves when it comes to winter fashion? Happy Thursday friends

Look of the Day #22

Fall Fashion

LOTD

Todayā€™s outfit is all about taking neutral pieces and putting them all together in a chic outfit. We all have simple pieces in our closets but we never think to wear them together. Today, Iā€™m going to show you how. Wearing all these pieces alone makes your outfit bland but tying them all together with a few accessories makes everything better. This outfit is perfect for college students heading to class. Heading to a fall festival? A pumpkin patch? Or a day shopping? This outfit would work great for any fall activity. Everything I am wearing are all neutral, fall colors and Iā€™m sure you have these pieces or ones similar in your own closets. Hereā€™s what you need to make this outfit work for you.

  • Black leggings or pants even jeans if you like. Whatever you feel most comfortable in. I get my leggings from GAP.
  • White t shirt (long or short itā€™s up to you. I wore a short sleeve shirt since it warmed up in the afternoon. I get my white t shirts anywhere. Whoever has the best sale wins.
  • Light jacket or coat. I got this tan jacket from Old Navy and it is perfect for fall or spring. A jean jacket or leather jacket would work great as well.
  • Little booties (a must have for fall, I love these suede wedges but brown, black even peep toes shoes can work great). I got these last year from Shoe Carnival.
  • A scarf to tie the whole outfit together. This scarf is from Old Navy has the black, white, and brown to tie the whole outfit together.

Alone all these pieces are simple, solid colors but get a scarf, fun jewelry or even a pop of color and you are set to go. I didnā€™t spend a penny on this outfit this season. It was all things I already had in my closet. Sometimes we forget what we have in our closet and we want to buy something new. However, if we take a few extra minutes we can be creative and make our own outfits. I hope this inspires you to think out of the box when it comes to fashion. Who knows your next favorite outfit may be your own creation.

Well, the celebrating has come to an end and we are at the halfway mark of summer. I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. Mine was shared with family, friends, LOTS of food and fireworks. Itā€™s always nice to take time to spend with family and relax.

My pinterest treats werenā€™t a complete flop. Granted, they didnā€™t turn out just like the pictures (but do they ever?!). Overall, everyone loved them from snacks, to desserts and displays. If you follow me on Instagram I showed preparations throughout the day. Down below I also share the before and after of all the goodies. Almost all the snacks were easy to make and devoured. To read more about the treats feel free to follow me on pinterest to see the full recipes. I got in the patriotic spirit with my outfit and nails as well.

Fourth of July Favorites

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying time with your family and loved ones celebrating Americaā€™s birthday. Before I hit the pool and picnics, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to have on the 4th.

  1. Ā Whether you are taking a dip in the pool, heading up to the lake or just tanning in the sun, a bathing suit is a must. I found this Red, White and Blue bikini at Target for under $20! It was a steal. I canā€™t wait to wear it! No outfit is complete without your nails so be sure to sport some red, white, and blue nail polish!

Got to love sporting some Red, White, and Blue
  2. Decorations are a must for any holiday. I love buying little American flags to decorate the gardens with. They are patriotic, affordable, and are easy to decorate with.
  3. Lastly, nothing screams 4th of July like tasty food. There is nothing better than grilling and having everyone bring a dish to share. I have a few of the desserts saved on Pinterest and Iā€™m gonna give them shot. Iā€™ll let you know how they turn out!

Gonna give this one a shot!

    Some yummy desserts!

Now, enough reading my blog and get out and celebrate our nationā€™s birthday. Be sure to thank a veteran while you are out. I’ll be back on Thursday to share my fourth of July look along with how everything turned out! Happy 4th of July!

Look of the Day #7

LOTD

Todayā€™s outfit is for those chilly summer days. I donā€™t know about you, but I am still experiencing a few summer days in the 60ā€™s!!!!! Yikes, itā€™s almost the Fourth of JULY!! Now, onto the details on my outfit!

I got my maxi skirt from Old Navy. The reason I shop at Old Navy often is because I can get good deals and they have good seasonal clothes. The clothes donā€™t last forever but itā€™s nice to have a few staple pieces in my wardrobe when I am in a rush. I am not a huge maxi skirt person. To be honest, I only have two skirts and one dress. I love the way they look but Iā€™m a short person (5ā€™3ā€) I canā€™t always pull off a long skirt. What I love about this skirt is the slit that goes up to the knee on the side. It is something unique and it breaks up the stripes.

My top is a regular black t-shirt. I got it from Old Navy but I have also gotten neutral shirts from Forever 21, Francescaā€™s, and H&M. Ā I love black and white t-shirts. They should be a must-have in your collection. They can be paired with any outfit, sporty, casual, even something to wear when you are running errands.

Once again, I am wearing my favorite jean jacket fromā€¦ you guessed it, Old Navy. Ā It’s lightweight and easy to throw on in a rush.

As you can tell, I got a thing for good deals at Old Navy.

Well, thatā€™s a look into what I am wearing today! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Look of the Day #6

LOTD

Last week I shared a dressed up and more formal look, Today I am sharing how you can use the same pieces to dress the look down. I wore this over the weekend spending time with my family. It was a perfect casual look to sport.

Starting at the bottom, I got these gladiator sandals last summer from DSW and they have been a crucial part of my wardrobe. They are fun and unique since they are black, they can go with anything, shorts, skirts, even a t-shirt dress.

Shoes from DSW

I got my shorts last summer as well from Marshalls but they are originally from Nine West. They are comfortable and a bit longer so you can wear a longer top with them.

Shorts from Marshalls

This top is the same one I wore last week with my orange skirt. I got the top from Francescaā€™s.

Front of top from Francesca’s

Back of top from Francesca’s. Gotta love a little lace in the back!

The necklace is also the same from last week to add a pop of color! I purchased that from Francescaā€™s as well.

A pop of color from Francesca’s

Lastly, the hat I got this summer from Marshalls. It was a total splurge purchase, but I am so happy I got it. It is big and protects you from the sun and itā€™s black which matched perfectly with my outfit.

A fun hat to finish off the outfit!

Well, thatā€™s the rundown of what I am wearing today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
