Friday Favorites #131

Hello All! Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week and month! Can you believe we are almost to the end of January?! This month has felt long mostly due to the cold temperatures, gray skies, snow and not too much opportunity to head outdoors. Iā€™m hoping for warmer and brighter days ahead, but thatā€™s up to Mother Nature. In good news, todayā€™s batch of Friday Favorites is making me smile and I hope it will do the same for you!

Cold days calls for warm cookies

Hereā€™s some things that I have been loving this week as I link up ErikaĀ andĀ AndreaĀ for Friday Favorites. I have spent a lot of time indoors, so just as a warning there are a lot of movies and tv show recommendations coming your way.

New Body Wash– My brother got me this body wash for Christmas and I couldnā€™t wait to try it in the new year. Itā€™s lavender scented which is perfect for evening showers and tubs to relax and unwind. I love that itā€™s not too fragrant and you only need a little to get enough of the scent and to feel squeaky clean. I also like that itā€™s made from healthy ingredients.

Mufasa– I have been on a movie kick recently. There have been a lot of good movies out and worth seeing in the theater. At the beginning of the month, some of my family members and I went to see Mufasa, the origin story to the Lion King. I recently saw the traveling Broadway show of The Lion King and I was already in the Disney mindset so the timing of this movie was perfect. I really enjoyed the way they told the story of Simbaā€™s dad and appreciated the Easter eggs in the other films. The music was so well done and I think they did a great job with the animation. If you donā€™t have a chance to check it out in the theater, definitely watch it on Disney Plus when it comes out.

Night Agent Back– One of the series that I watch made its return last week, The Night Agent. I was tied up with other commitments, so it took me a while to catch up, but now Iā€™m locked in for the season. The first few episodes have kept me entertained and intrigued about what will happen next and what the season will bring. If you watch the show, what are your thoughts on it? If you are looking for something new to watch, I would recommend this! I am always looking for new suggestions of things to watch. If you have any good shows or movies, drop them below!Ā

Be Ready When the Luck Happens– I just finished this book this past week and talked about it in Wednesday’s post. Ina Garten’s memoir, Be Ready When Luck Happens really touched me. I really really loved this book. I heard about it on the podcast, Books Beach and Beyond and after hearing Garten’s story, I knew I had to read it. I didnā€™t know much about Ina but learned so much about her life before she was well know for her culinary skills. I love how she talked about the lessons she learned along the way and how she was vulnerable at times too. I also loved how she talked a lot about her background and what she learned through different jobs and life experiences.

New Kylie Cosmetics Lipstick– I was out of my red lipstick and was in search of a new one and decided to try Kylie Jennerā€™s matte red lipstick, An Apple A Day I use Kylieā€™s lip kits for work, but this was the first time I tried a matte lip stick and was very impressed by the long-lasting quality and feel. It gave me great coverage and color for hours. I didnā€™t have to reapply once and it lasted a good three to four hours after I put it on and after I ate and drank. Major wins for me!

Thatā€™s a look into what I have been loving this week as I deal with more wintry weather. What are some things that have brought you joy over the past few days?! I would love to hear! Have a toasty weekend!

Friday Favorites #16

Hello hello and happy Black Friday!

I hope you had a great day yesterday with family, friends or loved ones. I had a wonderful day with family, visiting, eating, relaxing and watching the parade.Ā  Our family always decorates the day after Thanksgiving, so that’s what I have on my agenda for today along with some fun treats and appetizers for dinner.

As always, I’m linking up with ErikaĀ andĀ AndreaĀ for a weekly edition of Friday Favorites where I share some of my favorite things from this week.Ā

Here’s a round up of some of my favorite things.

First Snow-We had our first big snowfall last week/weekend. Although it was not pretty to drive and work in, it was beautiful to sit inside and read, watch a movie or turn on a fire and look at. Some of it has already melted due to warmer temperatures but I know it will be back soon. Seeing all the big, white, snow flakes gets me in the holiday spirit even more.

New Wall Flower Scent- Speaking of the holiday season, I swapped out my wallflower scent this weekend for this festive scent. I had been using eucalyptus and mint and swapped it out for fresh balsam. It smells like Christmas. Between the snow, decorating and new scents, I am ready for December 25…well I still need to do some shopping but I’m almost there.Ā

Pretzel Bites-I mentioned last week I picked up some fun snacks from Target and wanted to share another snack with you today. I got these chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel bites from Target and they are the perfect sweet and salty treat. You only need to enjoy a few to be satisfied. These would be great to enjoy on their own or a fun addition to a charcuterie board.Ā

One True Loves– I’ve been reading a lot of Taylor Jenkins Reid, I’m just finished the Seven Husbands of Elena Hugo and will be sharing my thoughts on it soon, but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to talk about One True Loves. It follows the story of a young woman who loves her husband when his flight goes missing, it takes her a while, but she moves on and meets someone else, she’s happy and engaged until her husband is found and returns home. It’s up to her to figure out who her one true love is. This story is about love, loss, growth and finding yourself. I breezed through this book in four days. In fact, I finished the last hundred pages in one sitting. A cute, love story with a twist.

The Santa Clauses on Disney Plus– And because I can’t stop talking about the holiday season…have you seen The Santa Clauses series on Disney Plus? I loved the original movies and I couldn’t wait for the series to come out. I love the Easter eggs to the original movies tucked throughout the series. This is a great family-friendly way to kick off the holiday season.

That’s just a look into some of my favorite things this past week. I hope you have a relaxing weekend and wonderful kick off to the holiday season. Happy Friday!

Hey guys! We are almost to my favorite time of year; all the holidaysā€¦from Halloween to Thanksgiving and rounding things off with Christmas! I love this time of year. I have been embracing the fall with all the leaves and the cooler temps. Hereā€™s a look into what Iā€™m currently into.

What Iā€™m up to:  Iā€™ve been enjoying all the fall activities, Iā€™ve been trying to go on long walks every week. Whether itā€™s near or far, I love a good walk. To read about some of my favorite walks, check out my latest post. Iā€™ve also been spending lots of time with family. Iā€™m also slowly getting ready for the holidays by decorating for Halloween and fall!

A rainy day and a nice walk was the perfect combination for a Friday

What Iā€™m wearing:Ā I hate to say it, but my wardrobe hasnā€™t been too exciting. Iā€™ve been wearing hoodies and sweaters and jeans on days off. For work days, Itā€™s been a mix of long sleeve dresses and pants with blazers too. Layers has been key when it feels like winter in the morning but summer by the afternoon.Ā

Jacket in the morning…
Not needed by the afternoon…hello fall weather!
Long sleeves and straight hair for cooler mornings on the desk

What Iā€™m reading:Ā Reading every morning has been the best way to start my days. I really enjoyed The Silent Patient, it was the perfect mix of a mystery and a psychological thriller.

Here’s what I started my month with.

For romantic mystery, What if You and Me was a great pick. Thereā€™s also a spooky twist to it, which makes it perfect for Halloween.

Another cute one story with a cute twist

I just finished reading The Last Mona Lisa, it was one of the best books I read in a long time. I loved the historical mystery and the two different time period parallels.

One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

Iā€™m currently reading, Nantucket Threads, which is a summer beach read, itā€™s definitely lighter compared to my past few reads.Ā

What Iā€™m Watching: Besides my weekly shows like Greyā€™s Anatomy and A Million Little Things, Iā€™ve been watching Community, which is perfect to watch in the mornings when Iā€™m getting ready or at night if I want to watch something to unwind. The all-star cast makes it so fun to watch! Iā€™m also on the to watch season 3 of You on Netflix. Iā€™m hooked on it.

What Iā€™m Loving: Iā€™ve been loving fall walks, seeing the leaves falling, doing lots of  reading and warm mornings and nights. I have been starting my mornings between the gym and work by lighting a candle and sipping some hot cider while I get ready for the day. I do some reading and meditating before I head out the door. Itā€™s the best way to start the day.

Another fall walk in the books.

What Inspires Me: Iā€™ve been inspired by the slow and steady of daily life mind you, not every day is slow and calm, I have plenty of busy days but I savor the calm ones. Iā€™ve also been doing lots of baking to which satisfies a sweet tooth and it gives my family a sweet treat to enjoy.

A fall trail mix on a day off

What I accomplished:Ā Iā€™ve been getting things done on my fall bucket list, from walks to fall treats, cider, and cozy nights in. Iā€™ll be sharing my full bucket list recap in the coming weeks.Ā

Fall pumpkins for some pretty decorations.

Goals Accomplished from Last Month Iā€™ve done a good job at slowing down. After a busy summer of travel, itā€™s been nice to have more lowkey days off. Last week, I spent the day reading, watching some shows, baking, meal prepping and running a few fun errands. It was the perfect mix of balance on a day off.

First Time making s’mores cookies,

Goals for the New Month: Did someone say holidays?! I canā€™t wait to start getting ready for the holidays, between gift giving, seeing family, treats and decoratingā€¦.I canā€™t wait

Thatā€™s a look into the past month. What have you accomplished in the past few weeks?

Fall Shows to Start Watching

Hey everyone!

Happy Tuesday! I donā€™t know about you, but this week is one of my favorite weeks of the entire yearā€¦what makes the last week of September so great?! Fall shows are starting back up again! As much as I love binge watching series, there is truly nothing better than following a series week to week, year to year. Call my old school, but I love watching a show and being on the edge of my seat until the next episode airs next week.

I started getting invested with tv series and ā€œmy showsā€ when I was in middle school. I think the first show I remember watching weekly was LOSTā€¦what a throwback, but still such a good show. Since then I have watched shows on all the major networks, everything from dramas, to comedies, procedures, and limited series. I have a few shows that I have watched from the early seasons, but I also find new shows to get into every year. I am so excited for the lineup of shows for this year. Here are a few that I am most excited for and whyā€¦

  1. This is Us
This Is Us

I love This is Us, itā€™s one of those shows that is so relatable, from family issues, to relationship struggles, and the every day life. You have to watch from the beginning, so you donā€™t get confused with the time jumps. I am excited to see where they go this season, they added a lot of new cast members and not only have they been going back in time, but now they are going forward in time. It premieres TONIGHT at 9 pm on NBC.

A Million Little Things

I got into A Million Little Things right after the first episode aired. It follows the story of a group of friends coping with their ā€œperfectā€ friendā€™s suicide and how his friends and family are handling it and moving on. However, there is a lot to uncover following the sudden death. The first season was so well done, I am looking forward to seeing what direction season 2 goes in and what other storylines it explores. It premieres this Thursday at 9 pm on ABC.

How to Get Away with Murder

Another Shondaland show that keeps you on the edge of your seat. After 6 years of getting away with murder, will Annalise Keating and her crew finally have to pay for their crimes?! When I first started this show when it premiered, I was immediately drawn in with the murder and mayhem. There has been a lot of secrets, covering up, and death through the years but Iā€™m anxious to see how it will all end up. The FINAL season premieres this Thursday at 10 pm on ABC after A Million Little Things, all part of the TGIT lineup.Ā

Outlander

If you followed my blog this summer, you know I was obsessed with Outlander this summer. I am so happy they finally announced that season 5 will be back on Starz starting February 16 at 9 pm on Starz. Although, season 4 didnā€™t leave us on a huge cliffhanger, I canā€™t wait to see what has been going in the late 1700ā€™s in America, plus who doesnā€™t love Claire and Jamie?! I canā€™t wait until February! Luckily, I have these shows to hold me over until it comes back on!

The Masked Singer

So far, we have a mix of some drama and some intense shows, we clearly need a bit of reality tv!! Enter, The Masked Singer. I watched some of last season and fell in love with it, it takes whoā€™s under the mask to a whole new level. I love trying to guess who is performing based on the clues they give and their singing abilities. Canā€™t wait to see who is on the show. This premieres TOMORROW at 8 pm on Fox.

There you have it, a brief recap of a few shows I am most looking forward for this upcoming season. DO you have any favorites that didnā€™t make the cut?! Let me know in the comments below! I am always open to new shows, even if my schedule doesnā€™t allow itā€¦haha!Ā I will make it work, that’s a promise!

Have a great week everyone and watch some tv!
