Hey guys! How has your summer been? Busy? Restful? Mine is going wayyyy to fast, I need it to slow down. HAHA! I’ve been trying to slow down on nights and during the weekends but it’s easier said than done. Can anyone relate?! Today’s look of the day is another one for the office. The older I get, the more I choose clothes are that used more for the professional setting than casual. Gone are the summer days of shorts and t-shirts. Dress pants and dresses are what I’m rocking nowadays.
I started today’s look with a pair of dress navy blue pants from The Limited, they are great quality and can be worn in so many settings. You may remember, I wore them this past spring for a few award ceremonies I had. A pair of navy-blue trousers are a must for your wardrobe.
I opted to wear them with a pair of navy-blue sling back heels I got from T.J. Maxx, what I love about these shoes is that they give you a little bit of height but nothing extreme, you can wear them all day and still be comfortable.
Lastly, since my pants and shoes were so dark, I decided to add a lighter top to the mix. You may remember this top from Old Navy when I wore it in the winter with dark jeans and knee-high boots. This is light gold top that really dresses up an outfit. I wore it today with a much lighter look. I love shirts that are versatile. ‘
That’s another look into what I am wearing. I promise to have more fun outfits for the weekend, but for now, I hope this shows how you can dress both professional while still looking cute!
Today, is a very good day as tomorrow is fall break. The first half of the semester has been very busy, so I am looking forward to having some much-needed time off. In the midst of midterms and papers, I keep reminiscing about my Ed Sheeran concert last week. One of my favorite souvenirs to get at a concert are the t-shits! They are a good reminder of the event and you can wear them often. When I have gone to concerts in the past and I get t shirts, I really like to make a whole outfit of it not just a regular t-shirt.
Today’s look of the day is dressing up a t-shirt into a cute outfit. The statement piece of this outfit is obviously my Ed Sheeran t-shirt. I opted for the white t-shirt instead of a black one to break up the colors.
Since it is fall and the weather is cooler, I decided to wear a pair of straight cut jeans, yes, the same ones from the concert, they are not only comfortable, but you can dress them or down. I got my jeans from Old Navy.
I added some brown hues to my wardrobe with my boots and jacket. These peep toe brown boots are perfect for fall, especially when the weather is cool in the morning but warm in the afternoon. I got these boots for an affordable price at T.J. Maxx.
Since my concert shirt is short sleeves, I knew a jacket was a must. I wore this brown leather jacket from Francesca’s to finish off my outfit. It not only kept me warm, but it was also stylish.
This was just one way to wear a concert t-shirt. I did go to a few other concerts this past summer, so I will be showing you other ways to wear this look.
I’m off to wrap up my last few classes before it is officially fall break! I am counting down the minutes.
Happy Thursday! We are almost to the end of the work week and then there is a long weekend ahead for Memorial Weekend! How are you celebrating the holiday weekend? Pool party? Cookout? Fireworks? I’ll be spending time with family and at some fun barbecues. I’m ready to kick off summer!
To start off today’s look of the day, I do have a disclaimer, last week I promised to share more business outfits and I will, but I wore this outfit over the weekend and I couldn’t resist sharing it. I’ll be sharing more business casual outfits coming up soon!
I will admit, I am a short girl, I’m only 5’3”, so most of the time, I can’t wear maxi dresses or skirts. If I do wear them I typically have to wear them with heels or wedges or I must find short maxi dresses or skirts which can be a challenge. When I do find a dress or skirt that works, I immediately pick it up. I love how they are flowy, comfortable, versatile and great for traveling.
Onto the dress details. I got this maxi dress from Old Navy a few years ago and I love to wear it since it hasn’t gone out of style. I chose navy blue since it is a neutral color and you can mix and match it with other colors and patterns. The fabric is so soft which makes it even more comfortable to wear. Plus, can we talk about how cute the open back is?! I love the cut out and it adds a great style to this simple dress.
I decided to pair my maxi dress with a pair of leather peep toe boots. I got them from T. J. Maxx and they were a great buy! I will only be able to wear these for a few more weeks since they are more of a spring and fall boot. I love how the navy and brown work so well together. Also, the heel makes sure that my maxi dress won’t drag on the ground. Another must for us short girls!
I was looking for a more unique purse and realized this would be the perfect opportunity to use my new bag from my trip to Chicago. I got it from Bloomingdales. It was the perfect size to hold a sweater, my phone, and wallet. I love how it really changed my outfit and made it more fun and functional!
I hope this gives you a new idea to mix and match your summer outfits up. What is something essential you always have to have with you when you are out and about? Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day with your family and loved ones. Have a great start to summer!!
Last week finally felt like spring. The sun was shining, the windows were open, people were studying outside; it made me so ready for spring!! I took advantage of this burst of warm weather by dressing very springy. My friends and I made a quick stop to Dunkin Donuts before class hence the frozen drink and backpack, this is a college student in her natural habitat.
Starting with my top, I go this last year from Francesca’s Boutique. I have worn it previously with this outfit. This was the perfect occasion to wear this sleeveless top. I also like the material and fit and how it can be worn with many outfits.
My jeggings are from Target. When it comes to spring and the weather changes from morning to evening, I try to wear a short sleeve top and long pants or vice versa.
These are my favorite spring boots. I love the peep toe and the thick heel. They are perfect for transitional seasons. I got these from T. J. Maxx, I can’t wait to wear them more often this season. Also, I am a heel fan, and these are super comfortable as well. I typically find wedges or thick heels much more comfortable than thin heels.
My sunglasses are from American Eagle. I love their fun and unique style. They were on sale so that makes me love them even more!!
This outfit definitely got me in the mood for summer. I am ready to break out the pastels, shorts, and bathing suits.
What are you most looking forward to when it comes to summer? Vacations, picnics, beach days, tanning? I’m looking forward to all of it.
See you all next week. One week closer to the long awaited summer.
Fall is in full swing and it’s time to start dressing like it. This outfit is a perfect look for a day at the office, a dinner with family, or Sunday mass. I recently wore this at home for Sunday mass and dinner after. It is still early enough in the season so this short-sleeve dress worked perfect for an early fall day spent with family.
Whenever a new season rolls around, I like to change my color palette of outfits. In the autumn, I love to wear plum, brown, olive green, and navy blue just to name a few colors. I got this olive green dress from Francesca’s Boutique two years ago. It’s a simple green dress but can be layered if needed depending on the season and weather.
I love how you can add a bold or simple piece of jewelry to accessorize your outfit. I decided to make this look more simple with a pair of gold hoops and a gold, long necklace. Necklaces can truly do wonders for an outfit. I wear chokers, chunky necklaces, and long necklaces. Any of those styles can work with a simple solid color dress. Because it is fall, I decided to make gold and brown my accent colors. My jewelry is gold and my shoes and purse (not pictured) are leather and brown.
These shoes are a staple for me in the fall. I got them from T.J. Maxx two years ago and they have worked as a great fall shoe boot. The brown, leather peep toe boot works great to dress up a pair of jeans and a blouse. They can also be paired with a solid or busy brown dress or even a corduroy skirt. These shoes are great for transitional weather from summer to fall or winter to spring.
I hope this look gave you some inspiration for some fall colors or fall fashion. I can’t wait to see what fall trends will be coming out soon.
This summer I tackled a project that was on my to-do list for a while. My pantry. After numerous pinning and watching organizational videos I took it upon myself to clean out and reorganize my pantry. Although it may seem, like a daunting project, it’s not as bad as you think. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Clean it out.
I went through my pantry and completely cleaned it out and gave it a good wash down. This gave me the opportunity to throw out old or expired food and see what I had. Cleaning out the pantry gave me the chance to consolidate any food that I had as well. It also gave me an idea of what space I had to work with. It’s a great feeling to see any empty space just waiting to be utilized.
Step 2: Get shopping
Now, after you clean everything out there are two ways you can go about organizing . You can either put everything back in your pantry in an orderly manner or you can go shopping for some organizational tools. These tools allow you to keep things tidy, neat and you can get a better idea of what food you have in your pantry. There are so many options when it comes to organizational tools. I like to start my search by doing recon work. I hit a lot of stores to see what they carry, the amount they have, and the prices. I hit the basics like Home Goods, Target, Marshalls, Bed Bath and Beyond, T.J. Maxx, At Home, and Walmart to name a few. I ended up getting a majority of my tools from Home Goods, Bed Bath and Beyond and At Home. I decided to go with the Good Gripes OXO series but there was an abundance of different brands and options at all the store I went to. As I was shopping I kept in mind what containers I wanted to use to store my food it. This helped when it came to purchasing the right amount of containers.
Step 3: Get Organized
After I purchased all my containers I washed them all, I put all the food into the containers I had purchased. For some it was easy, for others it took trial and error to figure out what containers worked best for each food. After all the food was properly stored came the fun part. I got to organize the containers and baskets in my pantry. Once again this took time to see what set-up worked best for my pantry. I got chalkboard labels for my baskets to show what’s inside. I kept a few things in their packaging but for the most part everything is in clear containers.
I have had this setup for a few days now and I am really loving it. It keeps things neat and organized and it allows me to see my food and how much I have left of everything. This has been the biggest saver. I found myself in the past buying food because I didn’t remember seeing it in the pantry or I couldn’t find it. With the new containers I have a better understanding of what I have and what I need.
Although this was a big project, I am happy I got it done and I’m even more happier with the results.
Lots to talk about on this lovely Thursday! Today, I decided to change it up and show TWO different looks for two different women.
First, I want the give a HUGE shout out to my cousin for taking these amazing pictures. You will see more in future posts but here’s a sneak peek. She is so talented and I was so lucky to have her help me with these new shots.
Plus, how cute is her outfit?! I’m kinda obsessed. Her bold pants are so comfortable and are from TJ MAXX (one of my favorite stores) In a previous post I talked about how it’s good to have a few solid t-shirts in your wardrobe and its paying off. The white t-shirt complemented her pants perfectly. She got her shirt from TJMAXX as well and her shoes are from Marshalls. I love the straps on them! Thank you so much Anna!!
Now, for today’s looks I’m showing two different styles of dresses. Another big thank you to my mom, who stepped in front of the camera this time to show off her outfit. Both dresses are from Old Navy. They are both light weight which are great for summer and come in a variety of colors. I personally like to go with bright, bold colors so, I went with pink. My mom decided to go with blue, which is a more relaxed color.
Starting off with my look, I went the bright pink dress. I loved the cutouts in the front and back and I love how it was loose fitting. Since it is a solid color I can add different statement pieces. I decided to down play my look with just a simple pair of wedges. But, I could also add a sweater, jacket, or bold necklace to change up the look. I am always wearing these shoes. They are super comfortable, they are nude (gotta love a neutral color), and they are versatile. I can wear them with a dress, capris, or even jeans. Wedges are on my summer must have. I got mine from DSW.
My mom decided to add more accessories to her outfit. She went with a similar dress in blue (her favorite color). She also decided to get a style with longer sleeves. They are ¾ quarter length and the dress works great for a night on the town with a bit of a breeze. My mom decided to add some jewelry. Her necklace and bracelets are from Old Navy as well. I love to use jewelry to make a statement but I love dhow my mom had her jewelry match her dress. I also like how she wore a pair of sandals to dress down her outfit. I, on the other hand dressed it up with wedges.
I love how you can see two very different styles and outfit puts together from dresses that are so similar. I hope this gives you a few ideas for outfits to wear in the middle of the summer. As well, as show you how you can wear similar dresses in different ways.
