It’s time to fire up the grills and put on those swim suits one last time for Labor Day! Whether you are home with family and friends or hitting the books like I am, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Labor Day.
This outfit is perfect for a picnic by the pool or a cookout with family. I got this slip-on blue and turquoise dress from Francesca’s Boutique. It’s lightweight and a great summer color. The best part of it? I got it on SALE! You can dress it up with a pair or wedges for a night out on the town or you can dress it down with sandals or flip flops for a summer picnic.
This hat is a perfect accessory to go with it. I got mine from Francesca’s as well but you can find hats similar at many other retail stores. Hats are coming back in style more and more. You can wear a different hat every season and it could still work with any looks.
It’s a bold accessory that won’t go unnoticed and it will protect you from the sun. What more could you ask for?
Let summer go out in style and celebrate one last time with this look for Labor Day!
I love lists! Lists allow me to organize my thoughts and things that need to get done.
Every summer I create a list of things I want to do. Some things are fun and are spent with family and friends. Other things might be things I hope to accomplish or things that need to get done. At the end of this summer, I am happy to say I got almost everything I wanted to accomplish done! That’s doesn’t always happen. Here’s a peak into my summer and everything I got done.
SUMMER TO DO:
Read Five Books (read 7 instead!!) ✅
Blog Twice a Week (if you are reading this now then I must have done it) ✅
Finish The Office (gotta get my Netflix in-it was my second time watching it and I couldn’t get enough) ✅
Finish House of Cards(it took me to long to finish but it was worth it and I can’t wait for next season) ✅
See one friend from college (I didn’t see any friends from college but I will be seeing them soon enough once classes start)❌
See High school friends (yes I did and loved every second we spent together-friends for life) ✅
Spend a Full day at the pool (it may not have happened until the last week of summer but I got it in) ✅
Go out got ice cream at night (I ate way to much ice cream this summer but it was worth it) ✅
Go to White Turkey and Sara’s (one of my last meals at home this summer was spent here) ✅
Go on more walks (my favorite way to relax) ✅
Go to the beach more than once ( I made it twice- does that still count?) ✅
Take it slow-try not to rush all the time (after a whirlwind of a school year I tried to take it slow and that happened maybe 5% of the time. BUT it happened) ✅
See extended family (seeing my cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents truly made my summer. Family over everything) ✅
Take advantage of the free things (go to the zoo, beach) (nothing better than taking advantage of activities in your own backyard) ✅
Host people for dinner at my house (I love having company over and I was happy I could help entertain this summer) ✅
Try something new ( I’m starting a new job this fall so that’s new!!) ✅
Physical Therapy (not something particularly fun but it was necessary and it was so helpful) ✅
Surgery (again, not so fun but I am so glad to have it behind me) ✅
Hit the Gym (I didn’t go as much as I would have liked but I felt so much better when I went) ✅
Do decorations for school (part of my new job and they turned out pretty good) ✅
Internship (I learned a lot and it helped my career-success!!) ✅
Work my summer job (in addition to my internship I’ve been working here for the past 5 years and I love it) ✅
Family Vacation (spending time with family and getting away-nothing better in life) ✅
I got a lot accomplished this summer. Some work, some play. And (almost) everything got crossed off. Another summer in the books. Now it’s time to hit the books. Time for school and fall fashion!
Lots to talk about on this lovely Thursday! Today, I decided to change it up and show TWO different looks for two different women.
First, I want the give a HUGE shout out to my cousin for taking these amazing pictures. You will see more in future posts but here’s a sneak peek. She is so talented and I was so lucky to have her help me with these new shots.
Plus, how cute is her outfit?! I’m kinda obsessed. Her bold pants are so comfortable and are from TJ MAXX (one of my favorite stores) In a previous post I talked about how it’s good to have a few solid t-shirts in your wardrobe and its paying off. The white t-shirt complemented her pants perfectly. She got her shirt from TJMAXX as well and her shoes are from Marshalls. I love the straps on them! Thank you so much Anna!!
Now, for today’s looks I’m showing two different styles of dresses. Another big thank you to my mom, who stepped in front of the camera this time to show off her outfit. Both dresses are from Old Navy. They are both light weight which are great for summer and come in a variety of colors. I personally like to go with bright, bold colors so, I went with pink. My mom decided to go with blue, which is a more relaxed color.
Starting off with my look, I went the bright pink dress. I loved the cutouts in the front and back and I love how it was loose fitting. Since it is a solid color I can add different statement pieces. I decided to down play my look with just a simple pair of wedges. But, I could also add a sweater, jacket, or bold necklace to change up the look. I am always wearing these shoes. They are super comfortable, they are nude (gotta love a neutral color), and they are versatile. I can wear them with a dress, capris, or even jeans. Wedges are on my summer must have. I got mine from DSW.
My mom decided to add more accessories to her outfit. She went with a similar dress in blue (her favorite color). She also decided to get a style with longer sleeves. They are ¾ quarter length and the dress works great for a night on the town with a bit of a breeze. My mom decided to add some jewelry. Her necklace and bracelets are from Old Navy as well. I love to use jewelry to make a statement but I love dhow my mom had her jewelry match her dress. I also like how she wore a pair of sandals to dress down her outfit. I, on the other hand dressed it up with wedges.
I love how you can see two very different styles and outfit puts together from dresses that are so similar. I hope this gives you a few ideas for outfits to wear in the middle of the summer. As well, as show you how you can wear similar dresses in different ways.
Last week I shared a dressed up and more formal look, Today I am sharing how you can use the same pieces to dress the look down. I wore this over the weekend spending time with my family. It was a perfect casual look to sport.
Starting at the bottom, I got these gladiator sandals last summer from DSW and they have been a crucial part of my wardrobe. They are fun and unique since they are black, they can go with anything, shorts, skirts, even a t-shirt dress.
I got my shorts last summer as well from Marshalls but they are originally from Nine West. They are comfortable and a bit longer so you can wear a longer top with them.
This top is the same one I wore last week with my orange skirt. I got the top from Francesca’s.
The necklace is also the same from last week to add a pop of color! I purchased that from Francesca’s as well.
Lastly, the hat I got this summer from Marshalls. It was a total splurge purchase, but I am so happy I got it. It is big and protects you from the sun and it’s black which matched perfectly with my outfit.
Well, that’s the rundown of what I am wearing today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
So a few weeks ago I talked about my favorite jean jacket which I wore a ton in the spring. Well today, I’m going to be talking about my favorite summer pair of pants. Since Memorial Day has come and gone it’s time to break out the white! Yes, I fully believe in wearing white from Memorial Day to Labor Day!
I have had these white capris for a few years and they are my absolute favorite! You can dress them up or down! I try to look for clothes that can be worn in a lot of ways. I also love how you can change an outfit so easily with the help of accessories!
I wore this outfit to work a few days ago and I dressed it up. I matched the white capris with a blue and white pin strip shirt and my go-to Kelly and Katie sandals! I decided to wear a bold necklace to accessorize my outfit! The capris are from American Eagle. American Eagle is a hit or miss for me. I only have a few pieces of clothes from there, but I have friends who love to shop there. It all comes down to what works best for you. The top is from Gap which can be a hit or miss for me! Sometimes I walk out with a few outfits, other times I have no luck! The necklace is from Francesca’s. I love going to Francesca’s to get new accessories, outfits, dresses or just look around! Francesca’s is like Target for me, you always feel better after going there whether you buy anything or not (most of the time, I am guilty of buying something)!
Happy First Day of June!! Although, the start of summer is officially this month, it is only going to reach the low 60’s today. We have a way to go until we are spending days at the beach with 80 degree weather.
Today’s look of the day is a lightweight outfit you can wear on cool mornings and warmer afternoons. I chose to wear a busy top as my accent article of clothing and paired it with a neutral pair of pants and shoes.
The top is from Francesca’s, which is one of my favorite stores. They always have fun, unique clothing that you won’t find at big department stores. I always find different pieces of clothing to add to my closet. I have worn this lightweight, silky top during all four seasons. You can dress it up with a pencil skirt and heels for a day at the office or dress it down with a pair of jeans or leggings for a day of getting errands done. In the summer, I have even worn this top with a pair of Bermuda shorts and it worked great. I love clothes that can be paired with several kinds of bottoms. My leggings are from Target. I like the washed out blue jean look with my top. I decided to pair my top with leggings since it’s supposed to warm up in the afternoon, but I typically wear jeans with the top. Lastly, to get into the summer mode, I wore a pair of tan sandals from Kelly and Katie. They have fantastic prices, they are comfortable and stylish!
Here’s a little look into what I’m wearing today. Let me know what you would wear with this top. I love getting suggestions for new outfits!
