Look of the Day #132

LOTD

Hi All!

Since my last post, I have finished finals, finished work and have been packing and saying my goodbyes at school. Itā€™s been a different week with no set schedule or routine, by I am taking it for what it is and enjoying all my moments at school. I canā€™t believe that I am days away from graduationā€¦ it is quite a surreal feeling. One thing that I have taken away from my time at college is to always dress for success and the appropriate ways to dress for an interview or work.

Today, Iā€™m showing an outfit that is perfect for a job interview. It is professional and appropriate. Before, I get into the details, here are a few tips for dressing for an interview

-Keep your makeup simple and soft, donā€™t overdo it. You are going to get a job, not a date out with friends.

-The same goes for outfit choice, you want to choose an outfit thatā€™s modest and appropriate.

-Always be prepared for any interview, bring your resume and reference with you as well as something to write with and a planner to be prepared.

-Do your research on the company you are interviewing at and don’t forget some questions too.

Now, onto the outfit. This is perfect for an interview or first day of work.

Job interview…check!

I got this outfit from all different stores, but they all fit great together.

Ā First, these pants are from Talbots, I like the cut and style of the pant. They are a straight cut that go right to the ankle, which allows you to wear a small pump or heel. I opted for the same heels I wore for Thanksgiving. A simple black heel with a gold buckle. Kelly and Katie are my go-to for good quality shoes. It looks professional but it also adds length to your overall outfit.Ā

My black top, is a short sleeveless blouse from Francescaā€™s Boutique. I often wear it in the summer, but I opted for the outfit since it matches the pants and the blazer.Ā

This blazer is one that I wear often for formal occasions. I got it from Marshalls a few years back and I have worn it with dresses, jeans, and dress pants to fit any outing that I have.Ā

When I wore this outfit, I felt put together and professional-two big things to keep in mind for job interviews and work.

Well, I am hours away from graduation day. I am planning on enjoying my last few days as a college student before itā€™s time for something new. I will see you back here on Tuesday for a very special post.

Until then, xoxo

Look of the Day #108

LOTD

Hey guys! How has your summer been? Busy? Restful? Mine is going wayyyy to fast, I need it to slow down. HAHA! Iā€™ve been trying to slow down on nights and during the weekends but itā€™s easier said than done. Can anyone relate?! Todayā€™s look of the day is another one for the office. The older I get, the more I choose clothes are that used more for the professional setting than casual. Gone are the summer days of shorts and t-shirts. Dress pants and dresses are what Iā€™m rocking nowadays.

All blue every day

I started todayā€™s look with a pair of dress navy blue pants from The Limited, they are great quality and can be worn in so many settings. You may remember, I wore them this past spring for a few award ceremonies I had. A pair of navy-blue trousers are a must for your wardrobe.Ā

I opted to wear them with a pair of navy-blue sling back heels I got from T.J. Maxx, what I love about these shoes is that they give you a little bit of height but nothing extreme, you can wear them all day and still be comfortable.Ā

Lastly, since my pants and shoes were so dark, I decided to add a lighter top to the mix. You may remember this top from Old Navy when I wore it in the winter with dark jeans and knee-high boots. This is light gold top that really dresses up an outfit. I wore it today with a much lighter look. I love shirts that are versatile. ā€˜

We love an outfit with versatility

Thatā€™s another look into what I am wearing. I promise to have more fun outfits for the weekend, but for now, I hope this shows how you can dress both professional while still looking cute!

Look of the Day #106

LOTD

Hi All!

Itā€™s Thursday and finally June! Today also happens to be two of my closets friendā€™s birthdays, my first and only roomie from college, Danielle, and my best friend from high school Madeline are both turning 21! I canā€™t wait to celebrate with both of them soon. I seriously donā€™t know where I would be without these gals and their unconditional love and friendship!

This weekend I am also going to be travelling to Pittsburgh to celebrate my birthday with all my college friends! I canā€™t wait!!! But before, I head out for the weekend, I have a few more days of work ahead of me. Todayā€™s look of the day is another business casual look for the office. I spend 90% of my day in the office so I am always putting together professional outfits and today is no different.

Letā€™s break down this professional look of the day!

For starters, I got these straight legged black dress pants from Old Navy, I was on the hunt for months for a nice dress pant that didnā€™t look like leggings, although I do wear leggings, the workplace is not the place for them. These dress pants are straight legged, professional, durable, all qualities I am looking for in a dress pant.

I opted for a simple pair of Mary Jane pumps from the Kelly and Katie collection at DSW. They do have a slight heel but very professional for the office, and VERY comfortable. I can wear them for 8-10 hours a day and have no serious pain.

Since I wore black dress pants and black shoes, I wanted to brighten up my look, I chose this pink/white/black blouse from Marshalls to wear with my outfit. It looks professional but also adds a pop of color!

A black blazer or white or black sweater would also be a great accessory. I added simple silver jewelry to polish off my look.

Thatā€™s a look into what I am wearing today at the office. Iā€™m off to wrap up these few days at work before my weekend away begins! See you all on Tuesday!

Look of the day #52

LOTD

Hello All!

Itā€™s officially the start of summer (or work season for me)! This will be a busy summer for me as I will be doing an internship and working part time. I’m super excited to learn new things and be exposed to new experiences!Ā  Due to these jobs, I will be working in a professional setting and I will be wearing a lot of business casual outfits this summer. The next few looks I will be sharing will be geared towards a business style.

It’s all about looking professional today on the blog.

Today, is my first professional attire look, I got these navy blue, dress pants from The Limited. I love how they can go with any bold blouse, sweater set, or cardigan. Ā The length on them works great if you want to pair either a ballet flat, small pump or stiletto with them. The quality is also long lasting, I have had them for a few years and have worn them on numerous occasions.

Along with the blue dress pants, I am wearing a bold pink and navy-blue top alongside the pants. I wanted to break up the solid pattern with my pants. I got this silky long sleeve top from Francescaā€™s Boutique. Previously, I have worn this top with cotton skirts, leggings, and even jeans, it is so versatile. I personally like to wear this top with business looks, but it never hurts to mix it with other outfits.

Lastly, I wanted to rave about these navy-blue pumps I am rocking on my feet. I got them from DSW, several years ago. I donā€™t wear them too often since I typically wear black or brown shoes, but I love how these neutral shoes really break up my outfit.

Thatā€™s a peak into my closet today on the more formal side of things. If there is ever a look you want to see styled. Let me know in the comments below! I am always open to new ideas and styles. Have the best weekend!!
