Bringing Blazers into Outfits

Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! Today, we are talking fashion, especially fall fashion. One of my favorite things about the fall season is layering clothing, from sweaters, to jewerly, even blazers, there’s so many fun ways to layer clothing and make your outfits cozy, comfortable and professional for fall.

When it comes to work outfits, wearing blazers is one of my favorite pieces of clothing to layer and accessorize. You can pair a blazer with dress pants, a skirt, even a dress. I love how one piece of clothing can tie a whole outfit together or completely change it.

Here’s a few ways that I incorporate blazers in my wardrobe.

With Dress Pants

I love wearing a blazer with dress pants to layer an outfit. Not only does it keep you warm, but it also looks more professional and put together. I got this blue blazer by J. Crew a few weeks ago and I couldn’t wait until the fall to wear it. I love how the neutral colors of the tan, blue and white. This is such a timeless and classic look that can be worn in any season. I also love the cut and fit of the jacket.

The classic blazer look

As a Pop of Color

Another fun way to wear a blazer is by using it to bring in a pop of color. Here’s the same dress pants and white top with a red blazer. Notice how even with the same pants and top, the blazer completely change the look of the outfit. That’s something I love about blazers, it changes the feel of the outfit.

Same basics, different blazer.

With a Skirt

This photo is from a few years ago, but I still wear this outfit to work. This gray blazer works great for a matching gray skirt or even black or gray dress pants. I like how a blazer can elevate the look of just a skirt and a blouse. This outfit works great for meetings or interviews or a day in the office. Even though the shades are a bit off, the blazer still works great.

Elevating a skirt and blouse.

With a Dress

This is more of a different look, but sometimes wearing a blazer with a dress could help double as a coat. It breaks up the the look of just one solid dress. I wore this light purple dress, but since there was a chill in the air, I added this black blazer as a jacket and for some dimension to the dress too.

Adding a blazer adds dimension and warmth to a simple dress.

Those are four easy ways to add a blazer to you wardrobe this fall season.

Business Casual Summer Outfits

Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! I’m back with another fashion post for you. Last week, I shared some of my favorite summer dresses. As I was working on my list of summer outfits, I had a lot that weren’t dresses but still cute summer ensembles, hence the two-parter post!

This post will be more geared towards bottoms and blouses. These pieces can work for work, networking events, job interviews or a more polished summer look.

I’ll share the links with as many pieces I can find. Without further ado, here’s some of my favorite summer ensembles.

Pop of pink for spring

This first outfit is perfect for the early spring days. I got these soft pink pants from Gap a few years back. One of my favorite things abut them is the straight cut. It can be so challenging to find pants that are straight cut, not skinny and not a flair and these fit the build. I opted for a soft pink for a pop of color.

I did a big shopping haul from Ann Taylor at the start of the summer and got a lot of things on sale. This white top was one of them. I love the accent with the sleeves. I think it really elevates this top and adds a bit of flair to the outfit. I also like the detailing with the piping down the front too.

I also wore a pair or soft pink mules for shoes. Sometimes, I wear heels with pants, but other times I prefer a flat or loafer. Even though I chose soft, solid neutrals for the outfit, I like the pop of design for the shoes.

Bright and bold in the middle of the summer

This next outfit features more pink! I got this soft pink short sleeve sweater from Ann Taylor.

I love the bright pink color. It can be paired with a pair of dress pants or a skirt. I really like it gives off some early fall vibes but still summer with the short sleeves.

These tan pants are a favorite staple in my closet. One of the things I learned from my mom is to invest in those staple articles of clothing. These could be things like nice dress pants (I have good quality pairs of pants in blue, black, and tan), a few blazers (I have a gray, black, and blue that are must-haves especially for business and work events) and some nice blouses. I have some crisp white blouses along with some fun colors too that are great to pair with different pants and blazers. I got these pants from Ann Taylor and I wear them in all the seasons, they work great in the winter with a blouse and blazer or summer with a bright colored blouse.

I wore a brown pair of mules with this outfit. Although, it’s a slightly different shade, they still work great together. I got these shoes from DSW, my favorite place for shoes!

This next outfit says hello summer. I was on the hunt for a pair of white dress pants for a long time and I finally found them this summer at none other than Ann Taylor. I took this picture during the golden hour, hence the sun setting glare.

I really love that these pants don’t feel too much like a summer pant that you would wear on the beach. They are made of a thicker material that can work in the summer months. My favorite part about these pants is that you can pair them with almost anything, any color, any pattern or any style.

I opted to pair these white pants with a bright yellow top from yet again, Ann Taylor. I told you I took advantage of a lot of sales this year. I love the sleeves and the bright canary yellow. I plan to wear this top with black skirts, navy dress pants and black dress pants to change things up. You can even wear this top into the fall and in the spring. I really love the versatility that comes with this top.

I wore a white pair of heels with this outfit. I got these heels from DSW and I love the style and how comfortable they are. I was so pleased that I got them in black and navy too.

Another outfit I put together with these same pants but a different top was this combo.

This outfit is a bit more casual with the pin stripe top, but still professional. I got this top from J.Crew and I love how crisp it looks with the white pants.

Once again, these pants are from Ann Taylor.and the shoes are from DSW. I love how the pants are tailored and cuffed. This is the perfect summer combo with the blue and white and great for an even by the water.

That’s just a quick roundup of some other alternative outfits you can wear to the office, to events or a business casual meeting.

What are you wearing and loving this summer? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Shopping!

Look of the Day #96

LOTD

Hi everyone!

Happy, happy Thursday! I hope you all had a great week. It’s crazy how fast this week went by. I am headed home for the weekend to see my family since I haven’t seen them since coming back from Rome. It will be nice to relax for a bit since I have been going non-stop these past few weeks.

Last weekend, I went to a semi-formal dance with my friends from school. It was the last one for me and so many friends since they are graduating in May and I’ll be graduating in December. My good friend Bailey and I made a weekend out of it and had the best time. We started out with dinner, hung out with friends, went to the dance, and hit up the gym and breakfast the next day. It was by far one of my favorite weekends of the year. I wanted to share the details of my outfit for today’s look of the day. I can’t wait to share this more formal look with you all.

Starting out night out with the dance
I don’t know what I would do without this girl. Truly the best friend I could ask for!
My friend Danielle was also at the dance and we had a blast dancing the night away
Bailey and I along with our friend Olivia hit up the gym early the next morning
Followed by brunch, I love these girls to death, not sure what I’m going do without them next year.

I have been going to all my semi-formals in college and I haven’t bought one dress, I’ve reworn all the dresses from past homecomings or other formal occasions. I will admit, I look much better in the dresses in college than I do in high school, it’s amazing what a few years can do. HA! Here’s a look down memory lane…

First, let’s start with the dress. I got this dress a few years back and I wore it for Christmas. I loved it when I wore it then and I was so excited to wear it again. The cream-colored dress was perfect for spring and the scalloped neckline was my favorite part of the dress, not to mention the unique material. I got this dress from Francesca’s Boutique.

All ready for a night out

Since the dress is very simple, I knew I needed a few pops of color, that came in the form of my red shoes, jewelry and makeup accents.

Up close of the dress

I got these red pumps from DSW last year and although they aren’t my go-to shoes, they are great to have to add a pop of color to an outfit. I got them last year to wear with my all black dress I wore for Christmas, you can see that outfit here.  I always think it’s important to have a fun shoe to add a pop of color to a neutral outfit.

I also opted for a bit of colors in my jewelry. Since the neckline was unique, I didn’t want anything overpowering.

I also made the decision to wear more neutral make up but add a pop of color with my lip choice of a bright red. I wanted the accent color of red to stand out without being too over powering.

I always love the opportunity to dress up for a fun night out and last weekend was the best. After a busy week, I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend at home. See you all on Tuesday!
