Friday Favorites #131

Hello All! Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week and month! Can you believe we are almost to the end of January?! This month has felt long mostly due to the cold temperatures, gray skies, snow and not too much opportunity to head outdoors. I’m hoping for warmer and brighter days ahead, but that’s up to Mother Nature. In good news, today’s batch of Friday Favorites is making me smile and I hope it will do the same for you!

Cold days calls for warm cookies

Here’s some things that I have been loving this week as I link up Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites. I have spent a lot of time indoors, so just as a warning there are a lot of movies and tv show recommendations coming your way.

New Body Wash– My brother got me this body wash for Christmas and I couldn’t wait to try it in the new year. It’s lavender scented which is perfect for evening showers and tubs to relax and unwind. I love that it’s not too fragrant and you only need a little to get enough of the scent and to feel squeaky clean. I also like that it’s made from healthy ingredients.

Mufasa– I have been on a movie kick recently. There have been a lot of good movies out and worth seeing in the theater. At the beginning of the month, some of my family members and I went to see Mufasa, the origin story to the Lion King. I recently saw the traveling Broadway show of The Lion King and I was already in the Disney mindset so the timing of this movie was perfect. I really enjoyed the way they told the story of Simba’s dad and appreciated the Easter eggs in the other films. The music was so well done and I think they did a great job with the animation. If you don’t have a chance to check it out in the theater, definitely watch it on Disney Plus when it comes out.

Night Agent Back– One of the series that I watch made its return last week, The Night Agent. I was tied up with other commitments, so it took me a while to catch up, but now I’m locked in for the season. The first few episodes have kept me entertained and intrigued about what will happen next and what the season will bring. If you watch the show, what are your thoughts on it? If you are looking for something new to watch, I would recommend this! I am always looking for new suggestions of things to watch. If you have any good shows or movies, drop them below!

Be Ready When the Luck Happens– I just finished this book this past week and talked about it in Wednesday’s post. Ina Garten’s memoir, Be Ready When Luck Happens really touched me. I really really loved this book. I heard about it on the podcast, Books Beach and Beyond and after hearing Garten’s story, I knew I had to read it. I didn’t know much about Ina but learned so much about her life before she was well know for her culinary skills. I love how she talked about the lessons she learned along the way and how she was vulnerable at times too. I also loved how she talked a lot about her background and what she learned through different jobs and life experiences.

New Kylie Cosmetics Lipstick– I was out of my red lipstick and was in search of a new one and decided to try Kylie Jenner’s matte red lipstick, An Apple A Day I use Kylie’s lip kits for work, but this was the first time I tried a matte lip stick and was very impressed by the long-lasting quality and feel. It gave me great coverage and color for hours. I didn’t have to reapply once and it lasted a good three to four hours after I put it on and after I ate and drank. Major wins for me!

That’s a look into what I have been loving this week as I deal with more wintry weather. What are some things that have brought you joy over the past few days?! I would love to hear! Have a toasty weekend!

Friday Favorites #95

Hello All!

Happy Friday! I can’t believe we are almost to the end of May. The months keep going by faster and faster. I have been enjoying this week to the fullest by getting outside, seeing a baseball, spending time with friends and enjoying lots of spring fun. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and I’m hoping things slow down so I can be present with family, enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.

It has been such a good month, and I am truly doing my best to soak in every moment. As we get ready for the weekend I am sharing some of my favorite things from the week as I link up with Erika and Andrea

Lululemon Bag– I have a few Lululemon accessories including their belt bag which I LOVE and some athletic wear too, but one of the other things I love is their reusable tote bag. I use this little bag multiple times a week. It’s the perfect size for throwing in a few must-haves when you are running out and don’t want to lug a big purse. It’s also great to throw in some shoes or a change of clothes and it’s perfect for transporting library books too. Those are just a few of the uses I have for mine, but the possibilities are truly endless. If you have one of the tote bags, what are your favorite uses for it?

Blue Jacket– I did some retail therapy a few weeks ago at the outlets and picked up a few pieces of clothing from Ann Taylor. This jacket was one of them. Although I have a similar on in pink, I absolutely love the cobalt blue. I wore it dressed up for work with bright dress pants and a blouse, but it could be dressed down with jeans and heels if you are looking to elevate an outfit. Although, I won’t be able to wear it much in the summer, I’m looking forward to wearing it in the other months year round.

New Kylie Lip Color– Speaking of retail therapy, I did some refreshing with my makeup and picked up a few new lipsticks from Kyle Jenner’s line at Ulta. I wear a lot of her pinks and nude colors at work since you can pair them with so many colors and looks. I had run out of a few of my go-to colors and figured it was time for a refresh. I picked up the Harmony lip kit and love it. It’s a softer pink that goes on smooth and creamy and lasts for hours. I applied some when I got to work around 7:00 one morning and didn’t have to re-apply all day. It was long-lasting and my lips didn’t feel too dry after having lipstick on them all day. Definitely a win in my book and worth the investment.

A full day of wearing the color

Texas Caviar Recipe– I’ve heard about this recipe for Texas Caviar and it looks like it could be something that’s right up my alley. I love the flavors of beans, plus the freshness of the veggies and a light dressing to top it off sounds divine. I love a good salsa/ guac/dip, so I can’t wait to try it this summer. I could see it being a crowd pleaser for big parties and gathering, plus, it looks super health and filling too. Have you tried this recipe before? If so, what are your thoughts?

New Room Scent– Tis the season for a new scent for my room. Strawberry snowflakes lasted me a long time, so I figured it was time for an upgrade. With us being in full on spring mode, I spend a lot more time outdoors and my windows are often open letting the fresh air in. I was searching for a scent that wasn’t too strong or overpowering or floral or fruit. I settled on linens and lavender from Bath and Body Works. A soothing scent that adds a bit of freshness to the room without it taking over. I also swapped out my cover for my wall scent for spring and summer, some minor tweaks and changes, but ones that make a difference.

That’s a look into my life lately. How have you been enjoying the month of May? Let me know in the comments below! Have a fabulous Friday!

Five Favorite Things

Hello hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are week’s are going well. I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready for spring. We had a 70 degree Sunday last week and it was absolutely beautiful. I got out for a walk with no snow on the ground and got to soak up some sunshine. Even that taste of sunshine has me craving spring even more.

I always love my routines and rhythms, but I always like to try new things. Today I’m sharing five things I’ve been loving. They are a mix of products, snacks, make up, and fun things.

  • Simplified Wellness Journal (one of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to focus more on my well-being and health and wellness. In addition to working out, I’m putting more emphasis on eating right, getting enough sleep and making sure I’m more well-rounded for my physical and mental health). The Simplified journal helps keep everything organized and help you track your workouts, how much water you drink, what you are eating and how you are taking care of yourself. If you are looking to put wellness first, this is a great resource, but you can easily keep track of your fitness and health goals in a regular notebook or journal.
I use my Wellness Journal every day

  • For makeup lovers: Since I wear a lot of makeup for my job, I stick with what I know and what works for me. However, I do like to change it up and try new things. I got this lipstick from Covergirl at Target and I love the dark pink color, It’s long lasting and I love how it goes on.
My new favorite color

  • For snacks: I always like to try different snacks and trail mixes. I saw this smores bark from Target and thought it looked fun and tasty and boy was I correct. I love anything with chocolate and the crunch of the graham crackers, the only problem is you want to be careful not to eat them all in one sitting. Haha!
A tasty favorite!!!
  • For technology lovers: Last week I did a post about my Apple Watch and what I loved about it. Since I wear it all the time even at work I purchased a few bands to switch out for dressier occasions. I bought a gold and a silver band that really dresses up the watch.

  • For shoe lovers: I love a good heel and since I wear them all the day, I love a sturdy heel too. I have been searching for years for a blue heel. I wear a lot of blue, from dresses, to pants and skirts. I have been searching for a blue heel for years and I finally found a pair at DSW. Here they are! They are very comfortable, sturdy and affordable. They also have them in different colors if you want to change out the colors.

That’s just a few things I’m loving right now. Definitely a mix of fun things and affordable too. What are some things you are loving right now?
