Friday Favorites #96

Hello all!

Happy Friday! How has your week been? Fast and furious or slow and steady? I hope it has been everything you have hoped for.

This past week I celebrated Memorial Day and my 26th birthday.

A bright day!
Fun drinks!
A sweet night!

As we gear up for a summer filled weekend, this first weekend of June, I wanted to share somethings I have been loving as I link up with  Erika and Andrea.

It Ends with Us Trailer– Last year, I read It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover and although it was a different genre and a heavier book than I typically read, I really enjoyed it. I even read the sequel and enjoyed it as well. The book is being made into a movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni and the trailer was released a few weeks ago. It looks really good and true to the book. I can’t wait to see Lily, Ryle, and Atlas come to life. I know I will be seeing it when it comes out.

New Blue Pants– I got these soft blue pants from Ann Taylor a few weeks ago and finally broke them out for summer! I love the pastel blue, how they are a wider pant and how you can virtually pair them with any bright or neutral top! I wore it with a pink sweater but can’t wait to try it with other combinations. Those will definitely be worn a lot in the summer months especially on cooler days.

Less Screen Time- This is a bit of a personal favorite but I have changed and limited my screen time throughout my day and have noticed a difference in my routine and sleeping. I used to always check my phone first thing when I woke up, it was the last thing I looked at before bed and I would find myself scrolling in the middle of the night if I couldn’t sleep. Now, I do my journaling and reading in the morning and at night before I check my phone. I know we have been hearing it for years to not be on the phone before bed, but after trying it myself, I am on board with it. When I can’t sleep in the middle of the night, I have found reading or mediation helps as opposed to mindless scrolling. I have found myself sleeping longer and deeper when I’m not distracted by my phone. A subtle change, but one that I have found has been making a big difference.

Just Eat– Jessie James Decker cook book Just Eat has been on heavy rotation over the past few weeks in my house. I’ve been making a lot of her recipes of the past few weeks including her shrimp fried rice, and Chinese chicken salad. They were both hits in my house for meals! I’m looking forward to trying more recipes as the summer months go on.

Shrimp Fried Rice
Chinese Chicken Salad
Can of Cola Cake

Expiration Dates– I had been seeing this book, Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle on so many blogs and finally got around to reading it and it was so good! It’s all about a young woman who gets a paper about every relationship she will be in and how long it will last. There’s a few twists that I didn’t see coming mixed in an oh-so-cute plot. I really loved the theme of live life to the fullest and the lessons you can learn from love.

That’s a look into what I’ve been loving this week! Tell me what have you been loving this week?

Have a great Friday!

2021 Resolutions

Hello all!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had enjoyable holiday seasons, from Christmas to New Year’s, I hope they were spent with loved ones, making memories, laughs, joy and love.

2020 was quite a year and now as we embark on a new year, I love to take the time and set up some goals or resolutions for myself as we embark on a new year. There are a lot of unknowns with the new year which makes it hard to plan for since there are so many things out of my control, but I know there are still goals that I can accomplish or continue to work on as we begin a new year. I like to keep my goals simple and realistic.

This upcoming year, I want to continue to focus on my health, both mental and physical. I plan to continue working out five days a week, whether it’s at home or the gyms once they reopen. I also plan to continue to work on my mental health by journaling daily and putting things in perspective.

I found good routines that work for me when it comes to schedule for work and my days off to make sure I have a balance of getting things done while spending time with family and friends and taking care of myself too.

Now, time for resolutions for 2021!!!

My word for the year is…Intentional. I want to be more intentional with my time, my friends, my family, my relationships, and myself.

My first goal is to be more intentional with my time, my family, and my friends and along with that, I want to be more present. For example, when I’m with my family watching a movie, I want to watch the movie and not be working on my computer or scrolling on my phone, but I want to really enjoy the movie. There were so many times this past year when I would be focused on two things at once and not being 100 percent there and I want to be 100 percent for everything. I started doing this towards the end of 2020, and I want to keep at it.

My next goal is less screen time. Given the nature of my job, I have to be connected or on my phone or near it. But, I don’t have to scroll through my phone aimlessly, especially social media. I started to enable screen time and set limits for myself on my phone and it’s been a game changer, but I still want to be better. I want to be more present and that means putting the phone down more and focusing on where I am at and not what others are posting on Instagram or twitter.

My last goal is to be more consistent with my friends. I have some friends who I have bi-weekly facetime chats with but with other close friends it could be months before we catch up. I want to be better about staying connected with friends and checking in on them especially with a year or uncertainity ahead.

I’m looking forward to everything that 2021 has to offer. I know it will be filled with hope, joy, and love. I want to continue to work on the goals and routines that work for me and work on my new goals. Overall, I don’t know what the year holds, but I know if I go into it with a clear mind, positive attitude and I’m willing to be flexible, it will all work out.

What are some of your New Year’s Resolutions or Goals?!

2020 Resolutions

Hey everyone! Happy hump day, or for me it’s my Monday. With my new job, my schedule is Wednesday-Sunday. So, my weekend is Monday and Tuesday.

Today, I wanted to dive into New Year’s Resolutions. You can see my goals from last year here. The three things I wanted to accomplish was be more positive, don’t sweat the small stuff, and be more social. Looking back, I can say that I accomplished all those things, with 2019 being my last year in school, I really tried to make the most out of it and being present. When times got tough, I made sure my mentality stayed the same and I stayed positive and realized everything happens for a reason. This also pushed me to not get stressed with the little things in life and instead, focus on the grand scheme of things. Lastly, I made sure I made the most of my time in college by being social. I am still going to make this a priority as I work by making sure I make my friendships a priority in this new season of life.

Now, onto 2020 resolutions. I have four things that I want to focus on this year.

-Less Screen Time. I know this will be an easy one since I started working full time. When I am at work, I focus solely on work and when I am at home, I want to work on being present and not being distracted on my phone. I want 2020 to be a year when I put an emphasis on quality relationships and not be distracted by technology.

-Lose Weight. In 2020, I want to put my health first and that means eating better and changing up my workouts. I want to feel my best in this new season of life. I did well in college about being healthy when it comes to my lifestyle and I want to continue that in this year

-Save Money. This goes along with my new season of life. Now, that I have a big girl job, I want to start being smart with my money. I want to make sure I am saving money and not spending it on frivolous things, for example, instead of stopping for a bagel on the way to work, take the time to make something for myself before I head out the door. It’s small actions like that which can make a big difference.

-Establish a new schedule. Finally, the biggest goal for the new year. Get into a new routine, working life is different than college life and even though it’s been an adjustment, I am loving it. But, there is still work that needs done. I want to get into a new routine, so I am using my time wisely when I am working, at home or having days off.

I am so excited for what 2020 has in store for me. I feel really good about where I am in life and what I’m doing. I can’t wait to learn and love this year not only about myself but also about others around me.

What are some of your resolutions for the new year?
