Look of the Day #89

All ready for a day at work

LOTD

Hello All! Happy Thursday! These past few weeks have been going by so fast. I canā€™t believe we are already done with the first full week of February. I have the weekend off of work, so I am looking forward to relaxing, catching up on sleep and hanging out with friends. I have a feeling itā€™s going to be a good weekend. Just one more day until the weekend.

I am so excited to share todayā€™s outfit with you. It is such a versatile outfit. Itā€™s a staple that I wear a lot when I am home for work since itā€™s appropriate for the workplace but it also works great for school since you look put together while also being comfortable. These photos are from when I was home working over Christmas break, but since I have come back to school I have worn this for classes and meetings. Letā€™s break this outfit down.

Comfortable and professional, the best of both worlds

I love the faux leather leggings. I got them a few years ago from Target.Ā Ā They feel like leggings when you are wearing them but from a far they look like a pair of skinny dress pants. I like to wear these when I know I have a busy day ahead of me and I know I am going to be on the go. I paired them with my high black dress boots from DSW for more of a professional look, but I have also paired this outfit with Uggs which worked just fine especially with the winter weather.Ā

This blue top is a staple of mine in the closet. I got it from GAP. I adore the material, it is a luxe shirt meaning it is so soft and silky. I couldnā€™t have asked for a better combination. I love that this top can be dressed up or down. I decided to top this outfit off with my long winter white sweater from Scandal Style from the Limited. Once again, this outfit looks professional but also comfortable.

Up close of the details

I topped the outfit off with gold jewelry and my gold bar necklace, a simple yet elegant piece of jewelry.

I know I am going to be wearing these pieces on rotation for the next few months with the cold weather.Ā  I hope you all have warm and productive weekends and you make some room for some fun in there too!

What pieces do you constantly wear in the winter months?

Look of the Day #83

LOTD

Hello All!

How has your week been? Full? Stressful? Busy? Same here. I can’t wait to share this outfit for today. This outfit is perfect for traveling to see loved ones. Not only is it comfortable but it is also fashionable. Letā€™s start breaking down this outfit.

Casual and comfortable

I love this shirt. I got it from Marley Lilly last year. I love the tunic feel and the fabric is so comfortable. Plus, I love anything monogrammed so my initials in the corner is the perfect addition. Another great thing about this top is that its big enough that it covers your booty if you are wearing leggings like I am wearing in this picture.

Since I wore such a dark top, I wanted to break up the bottoms. I decided to wear these leopard print leggings with this top. I got these leggings from Old Navy, I had had them for a few years and they are still in great shape. The dark colors complement each other but it is not super overwhelming.

I wore a gray pair of boot socks to bring out the gray in the leggings. I also got these boot socks from Old Navy as well. You can wear these boot socks with leggings, a dress, or skirt.

My favorite fall boots

My boots are my favorite part of my ensemble. I got these boots last year at the end of the season on sale at DSW. I always  try to get new things at the end of season sales. I had the same boots for about four years, so I knew it was time for an upgrade. I love the heel on these boots, you can really dress up an outfit with these boots. I have worn them with leggings, dresses, and jeans. Besides, how good they look, they are also super comfortable. I was on my feet for 10 hours in these boots and my feet were fine by the end of the day. Thatā€™s a major win for my book.

Thatā€™s a peak into my closet this week. I have a fun weekend planned ahead that I canā€™t wait to share with you all next week. I hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

Look of the Day #82

LOTD

Hi all!!

How has your December been? Mine is finally slowing down more now that finals are over, now itā€™s just prepping for Christmas. Iā€™m getting in as much Christmas movies, baking, and holiday activities in before Christmas.

The outfit I have for you all today, has been a favorite of mine these past few weeks. I wore it for Thanksgiving, but I have also enjoyed wearing this out to meetings, classes, and out to dinner.

A perfect outfit for the start of winter

My fuschia turtleneck is a huge statement piece for me. I love the bold color that contrasts with the dark skirt, tights, and boots. I got this top from GAP, a few years back. GAPā€™s clothes always stay in good condition for the past few years. I have worn this top with jeans, black leggings and skirts. It is a very versatile top.

A black skirt is a must for you closet. You can dress it up or down. You can wear it to work, out to dinner or even Church. I got mine from Marshall’s. I love how it is cotton, so it can be easily washed, packed, and worn.

The black tights are fleece lined, they are perfect for chilly days when you want to look professional. I got my pair from T.J. Maxx. These are a must for me especially when it comes to dressing nice for work or professional events.

These are my new favorite high black boots. I love the heel and the style. I got mine from DSW. They are comfortable but also versatile, I have worn them with jeans, leggings, skirts, and dresses. A high boot is a must for my wardrobe collection.

Thatā€™s a look into my closet. Enjoy the next few weeks of December and good luck with getting all your Christmas shopping in. I will be off on Tuesday for Christmas but will be back for another look of the day next Thursday. Have a Merry Christmas, enjoy the day with your families and loved ones.

Look of the Day #80

Happy Thursday!!

IĀ canā€™t believe we are already in December!!! This year and semester has flown by. I honestly feel the older I get, the faster life goes by. Anyone else feel that?

The holiday season is in full swing which also means final season is right around the corner. I will be happy once finals are over so I can really enjoy the holiday season.

Todayā€™s outfit is more for the professional. Ā I wore it a few weeks ago, I had classes, a few meetings, and I needed something that was professional but also functional.

Looking professional on the go

I got this blue top from Francescaā€™s Boutique over the summer but it still works great in the fall and early winter. I love the dark navy color and it goes great with my dark jeans.

Speaking of my jeans, these are my favorite boot cut jeans from Old Navy, the jeans I had worn for years, recently had to go, but I was able to pick up a new pair from Old Navy on sale. They fit just like the first pair, thatā€™s something I love about Old Navy, they are always consistent with their fit and style.

I am wearing my suede shoe boots. I got these a few years ago from Shoe Carnival. The low wedge is practical for a busy day but it is also cute to top off an outfit.

Lastly, although it is hard to see in the picture, I decided to wear a long gold necklace to tie the whole outfit together.

I decided to pull my hair up in a high bun, I keep my hair down 90% of the time, but sometimes I like to change it up and pull it up with a high bun.

I hope this gives you some suggestions of an outfit to wear when you have a packed full day.

Have a great weekend and do something fun especially with the holiday season just beginning!

Look of the Day #75

LOTD

Happy Thursday, only one more day till the weekend! We can do it. I have a lot of fun things planned for the weekend ahead. For starters, I donā€™t have to work (yay) and then there is a big Halloween Dance tomorrow which I am very excited for, my costume will be revealed soon. Any guesses yet?

I am so excited to share this fall outfit with you all today! From the colors, to the style and the cut, it describes fall perfectly! Yes, it is a short sleeve dress but the fall weather always changes, some days it is 70ā€™s and sunny and other days it is chilly and in the 40ā€™s this outfit can be worn by itself or a jean jacket or leather jacket can be added to make the outfit warmer. Letā€™s break the outfit down.

A perfect fall outfit

I got this mustard yellow t-shirt dress from Gap this year. I loved not only the color but how lightweight it is. This makes it so much easier when it comes to layering. This dress would be perfect for the summer and fall. Another great transitional piece of clothing.

I also got this scarf from Gap. I love the small flowers and I also love how it matches the dress perfectly. This scarf can be worn in many different styles, for this dress I thought it looked best this way.

A close up of the boots

My boot socks and boots tie the outfit together perfectly. I love the small buttons on the socks and the dark tan is perfect for fall. The dark brown boots also compliment the socks too. The dark boots also give the outfit a more fall feel.

I can see myself wearing this outfit a lot more this fall season. I could see myself added a jean jacket, leather jacket, tights or even leggings when the weather gets cooler.

What are some of your favorite fall accessories? Do you have any fun Halloween plans this weekend or next week?

Favorite Summer Accessories

For all you fashion lovers out here, today I have a real treat for you. Double fashion posts this week!!As we make our way through summer, I find myself using the same accessories over and over again. Some are new, some I have had for years. These accessories become staples in my wardrobe and are must haves for me. Now, some are very specific while others are more general.

Hereā€™s a look into my favorite summer accessories.

  • Bold necklace

I love a bold necklace, especially in the summer. I have gotten chunky necklaces from Old Navy,Ā Francescaā€™s,Ā and even Target. I not only like getting a variety of colors to mix and match with outfits, but I also love the different shapes and patterns that big necklaces come in. These eye-catching necklaces are perfect to dress up a solid color dress, blouse, or t-shirt. You can also dress up an outfit by just adding a statement necklace and earrings. Here are a few of my favorite necklaces that are constantly seen around my neck.

A bold necklace turns a simple gray dress to a wow factor

Another way to rock a bold necklace

  • Gold Jewelry

Speaking of jewelry, when I have a busy outfit, or I am not in the mood to accessorize- which letā€™s be honest can happen. This summer I have been turning to simple gold jewelry to get me through the day. I used to only wear silver jewelry but now I find myself wearing gold jewelry more and more especially in the summer. Ā I like how itā€™s simple and not too overwhelming, but you donā€™t feel naked without having no jewelry. Here are my essentials. I love a set of gold balls, these are a perfect size-not too big and not too small. They are also great for a professional setting, not too flashy but just enough to look like you can dress for the job. I also pair my earrings with this simple gold Gemini necklace. I got mine from Francescaā€™s, itā€™s very personal but also simple. I got this ā€œloveā€ ring from Alex and Ani for my birthday. Anyone who knows me, knows that I adore Sex and the City. When I saw this ring, I couldnā€™t help but think about Carrie and Big. This ring is perfect for dressing up a business casual outfit. Finally, these bracelets from Alex and Ani are perfect to finish off a polished and professional outfit.

Up close of the bracelets and gold earrings. Simple but classic

My gemini necklace, I always have it on, so simple, but a great piece of jewelry.

This love ring is one of my favorite new accessories for summer

-Fun flats

After starting my internship, I knew I had to invest in a few pair of flats. I would prefer to go for heel, wedge or sneaker shoe-but those are not the most reasonable for the workplace. Therefore, I had to go down the flat route. I found simple black and nude flats easy, but then I cam across these shoes on sale at DSW and immediately fell in love. I love how they are slides, but the pattern is so fun, bright, and colorful. These slide shoes are becoming so popular, I have seen them in so many stores. Because there are so many colors on shoe, I can pair it with so many things, from a pink and white striped dress, and solid blue dress, even a short set. The possibilities are endless.

How cute are these fun flats, they can go with so many outfits!

  • Sun glasses

Lastly, no summer look would be put together without a pair of sunnies. I love sunglasses, but when I wore glasses, I would always be limited in what I could wear over my glasses. Now that I have contacts, I can choose from so many different pairs of sunglasses to go with outfits or what Iā€™m feeling. I typically donā€™t spend too much money on sunglasses since I like to switch them up so often. I do have a black aviator and big brown pair that I wear frequently. However, I got this pair from American Eagle on sale and I absolutely adore them. They have a unique shape and color that can really change any outfit from going drab to fab. A fun pair of sunglasses are always on my summer must have.

How fun are these glasses?!

Who doesn’t love fun, summer accessories?!

That rounds up my favorite summer accessories. What are some pieces that you canā€™t live without, especially in the summer weather?!

Look of the Day #56

HI All!!

Itā€™s Friday Eve!!Ā  WOOOO HOOO!!! What are your plans for the weekend!? A picnic or barbecue, whatever it may be I hope you have some fun in the sun.

Speaking of fun in the sun, todayā€™s look is perfect for a summer activity. Itā€™s fashionable, yet functional and its SCREAMS summer! I mixed two completely different outfits to put this piece together.

A perfect summer fun outfit!

I have worn the top in the past with ripped jeans for a more edgy lookĀ Ā here

I have also worn the shorts in the past with a fun top for the summer monthsĀ here

I got both the top and bottoms from Francescaā€™s Boutique. I always find something unique when I go into their stores whether it be a piece or jewelry, clothing or accessory.

I was so surprised when I put the outfit together because of how well the colors and patterns worked together. I love a solid shot because you can pair it with so many patterns, materials, and styles of tops. My top was more tight fitting which worked out great since my scalloped shorts with more snug. I finished off my outfit with my gladiator sandals from DSW. I wore gold jewelry to garnish my look.

I wore this outfit for a barbecue, but you could wear it to a summer concert, park, dinner, or a day out at the beach. Always look at what clothes you can mix together, you never know when you ca create a new outfit.

Happy Thursday! Have the BEST weekend.

Look of the Day #55

LOTD

Hello! Hello! Hello all! Happy Thursday. Ā What a busy week it has been. Over the past week, my family and I have been very busy with graduation festivities. Both my brothers graduated this past week, one from high school and the other from eighth grade. Needless, to say graduation has been on our brains. Iā€™m looking forward to this next week for things to start slowing down and to start enjoying summer between work (or at least try to) haha!

Between all the activities this past week, I wanted to share one of the outfits I wore to one of my graduations I attended. I got this dress several years ago, but I LOVE the fit and I always try to wear it to more formal events that I have.

Pop of pink for the start of summer!

This bright pink dress is from Francescaā€™s Boutique- one of my favorite stores. Not only do I love the color but I always love the material, pattern and cut!! The cut allows several different body types to wear this dress and have it complement them.

Since, I wore it to my brotherā€™s graduation, I opted for a pair of nude heels for a more formal look, however, I have worn wedges with this dress in the past as well as black and navy blue heels with it because it is a bold color.

Due to the event, I decided to dress up the outfit with a pearl ring, necklace and earrings. I wanted my look to be more formal. However, for a more casual look, a bold, chunky necklace would work as would a pair of earrings.

Up close for the jewelry

This dress is perfect for any formal event such as a wedding, dinner, or awards ceremony. Since, it is just one bold color, your can dress it up or down as much as you want with jewelry. Donā€™t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to your wardrobe. Ā Have a wonderful weekend!

Look of the Day #46

LOTD

Hello All!

Happy April!

I hope your Aprilā€™s are all off to a good start. I am back to school for the last leg of the semester. This semester and year has flown by!Ā  My April is jammed packed, if I survive this month, I think I can tackle anything. Haha.

Today, I am sharing the outfit I wore on Easter. I spent my Easter Sunday by attending mass and spending time with family. I couldnā€™t have asked for a better day. Ā I think Spring is finally upon on, I wanted to get in the spirit with this bold print floral dress. I donā€™t often wear these colors, but I saw the dress a few years ago and couldnā€™t resist.

I actually purchased this dress two years ago from Nordstromā€™s . Unfortunately, it is no longer in stock. Ā I wore it for my high school Baccalaureate Mass. It was held at the end of the year and I love the bright colors. I love to buy things that are very good quality so i can wear them on numerous occasions especially as I will be heading into the real world soon. I love the dark blues and greens, but I love the pop of yellow even more. I decided to bring out the yellow with these light-yellow heels from Kelly and Katie, I got them at DSW a few years ago as well. I added some simple but classic to go along with the dress and shoes.

I donā€™t often wear bold dresses like this, but I decided to change up my look for Easter. I often choose to wear simple colors and add bold jewelry or accessories as my statement pieces. Today, however, my dress was my statement piece.

I canā€™t wait for Spring to get fully underway for all things spring fashion. What trends are you looking forward to this spring/summer season?

Also, I will be out of town this weekend, to follow along with my adventures, check out my Instagram for all things travel @elspethsdaybyday

See you next week!!

Look of the Day #44

LOTD

Hello and happy Thursday!

Todayā€™s look of the day is giving me major Olivia Pope vibes. Any Scandal fans out there?! So crazy to think we are in the last season with only a few episodes left.

What a boss!!!

Okay, enough about tv, itā€™s back to fashion. Ā I had a busy day last week with a few meetings thrown into the schedule, so I needed an outfit that was professional, comfortable, and warm. After spending a good 10 minutes going through my clothes, I put something together that fit the criteria.

Perfect outfit for any professional.

I am wearing my favorite faux leather leggings from Target, which you wouldnā€™t even guess they were leggings by the look of them. I have had them for a few years and I havenā€™t had any trouble with them so far.

I paired them with my favorite and most comfortable suede wedges. I have been wearing these nonstop this season. I love how they are so versatile and can go with so many of my outfits. I got them on sale from Shoe Carnival last year and have been very happy with their quality.

I wore a long sleeve black top from GAP for my top although, with my scarf and blazer you couldnā€™t see it. I love GAP and Old Navyā€™s clothing especially their solid tees. I stock up on them when they are on sale. You can never have too many black or white long and short sleeve shirts.

Speaking of Old Navy, I got this scarf from there a few years ago, I have worn it with dresses, skirts, and even jeans. I love the neutral colors and pattern.

My blazer is my favorite part of my outfit. I got it on sale from Marshalls, a few years ago. Marshalls and T. J Maxx are go-to stores for me. I love the variety of clothes they have, and you canā€™t beat their markdowns, they are always having sales. I finished off my outfit with simple gold jewelry.

I do love pops of color, but sometimes, you just have to go with the simple, and neutral colors. I hope this showed you, that you donā€™t have to break the bank to look nice and professional AND, donā€™t be afraid to mix and match clothes.

Have a great weekend.
