Hi everyone and a Happy Wednesday to you!

We are wrapping up October and saying hello to November. If I could describe this month in one word, it would be FALL! I did all the fall things and I’ve been loving every moment of it. From walks to leaf picking, hot cider and all the apples. This month has been incredible.

Let me give you a recap in this month’s currently.

What I’ve Been Up To: All the fall things! I’ve been making great progress with my fall bucket list. I’ve gone apple picking, made an apple recipe, gone on fall walks and drives, cozied up a good book or two or three by the fire and have been making the most of the cooler days.

Apple picking fun!
Enjoying Beautiful Fall Walks

What I’m Wearing: As we transition to cooler weather, I’ve been doing lots of layering. I went for coffee last week and then a walk and wanted to be both comfortable but cute. I wore this stripped shirt from Old Navy with a blue vest and jeans and sneakers, the perfect fall outfit.

A perfect outfit combo for a fall day!

I also shared a dress I got from Calvin Klein a few weeks back that works great for a date night or a night out with the girls. Perfect for fall too!

Another favorite fall dress!

What I’m Reading: SO. MANY. GOOD. BOOKS. I don’t know where to begin. I read All We Ever Wanted by Emily Griffin. I remember hearing about this book a few years ago on blogs and finally decided to read it. It was definitely a heavier read and dealt with more serious topics. The book follows the story or two separate families that are forced to get to know each other after their teenagers get involved in a bad situation. Themes of loyalty, coming of age, and finding yourself are weaved through this book. Definitely worth the hype.

Such a good book!

What I’m Watching: Besides fall shows being back like Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve also been making my way through Sweet Magnolias which I finished. That was such a fun and light-hearted show that still had depth to it. I can’t wait for season 3!

This season is off to a great start!

What I’m Loving: I’ve been really enjoying the fall days. From getting pumpkins to going to fall festivals. I’ve had such a good month. I know next month will get cooler and darker as the days get shorter, so I am soaking up all sunshine and changing leaves.

All the pumpkins for October!

I’ve also been doing lots of cooking and baking. I’ve been trying to make something every weekend whether it’s a meal or a dessert and I have to say the practice is so soothing and relaxing, plus who doesn’t love to eat something warm after a cold day?!

A look at what I made with the apples I picked.
I also bakes fresh peanut butter cookies, yum!

What Inspires Me: I mentioned this a few weeks back, but I’ve been going down the Pinterest rabbit hole when it comes to fall ideas, decor and recipes, so relaxing and fun!

Dream Pinterest boards

I’ve also been inspired by fall pieces that I’ve seen in decor stores like Home Goods and Marshalls. I’m always inspired by seeing what is on the shelves and seeing how I can use things in my own home without spending money. I’ve also been doing more reading every day. I typically read in the mornings, but I’ve been reading more at night before bed. It’s been such a nice way to unwind at the end of the day.

Driving in the fall has been so fun and so beautiful to see all the changing leaves.

What I Accomplished: I’ve been so good about checking things off my fall bucket list, but I still have a way to go. It’s been fun to make memories and have a list of things to do when I’m looking for something fun to do.

I’ve been loving all the fall leaves as they change day to day.
One of my fall walks took me to see some incredible waterfalls, stunning!

Goals from Last Month: My main goal was to make headway on my fall bucket list, and I’ve done a good job at that so far.

Another fall coffee date

Goals for this Month: As we get closer to the holidays, I want to start thinking about who I need to buy for for the holidays. I am also looking forward to having the whole family together for Thanksgiving.

Breaking Down: Diffuser, Candles and Essential Oils

Hello All! Happy October!

I hope you are all having a great start to your new month.

As we begin a new month and new season, one thing you may enjoy as the temperatures begin to drop is cozying up inside. I know there’s nothing I enjoy more than taking out a fuzzy blanket and having a room that smells like fall when I’m looking to relax. But how do you get a room to smell warm and cozy and inviting? Do you light a candle, plug in a wall flower, diffuse some essential oils? I’ve tried all three and in good news, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the options. I’ve tested them all and think they can all be used in one way or another. It all comes down to preference.

Let’s start with diffusers. I’ve used my diffuser the longest. I started using it in college when you weren’t allowed to use candles or wall flowers in dorm rooms.

I really like how natural essentials oils are and how they made a room smell. I also liked reading and learning about different oils and how you can combine them and how they can be used for your health too.

Some of my favorite essential oils to use are lavender or peppermint (especially at night to help with sleep or headaches), lemon when cleaning or a few combinations of oils in the winter to help build immunity to avoid getting sick.

I tend to use essential oils at night or when I’m looking for a subtle smell to have in the background. In my opinion, the only one downside it that essential oils are super strong so if you are looking to really have your room smell different then this may not be the best option. I keep mine by my bedside and always enjoy the smell it brings when I go to bed or wake up.

Option #1 Diffusers

Next up candles! I love burning a candle when I’m getting ready in the morning or when I’m reading or watching a movie or just relaxing at the end of a long day. I really like the atmosphere and tone that lighting a candle provides. It’s almost as if you are being intentional to relax, calm down and unwind. There’s so many different scents and combinations you can make your space smell fresh, or warm and inviting or even like sheet of fresh baked cookies. I tend to go with scents found in nature like pine or peppermint, or seasonal scents too, like apple in the fall or cedarwood in the summer. I like the mood that lighting a candle can set for any room. Plus they make a nice piece of decor too.

My current favorite candle

Lastly, we have wall flowers. This is my latest favorite room essential. I got my wall flower and scents from Bath and Body Works. One thing I like about wall flowers is how you can choose how strong you want a scent to smell and it can really take over a room. Whether you like that or not is another decision. I often find myself turning on a wall flower if I’m looking to really have my room or space smell a certain way if that makes sense. I will often use it for only a few hours a day when I’m spending a lot of time in the room or if I’m having company over and I’m looking for a stronger scent. Another nice thing about wall flowers is you can stock up on favorite scents so you don’t run out. Plus, there’s so many different fun scents for the holidays too.

My current favorite

In my opinion, you really can’t go wrong with any of the these options, they are all around the same price range (minus getting an initial diffuser or wall flower) They all have peaks and pits to them,  but I think it really just depends on how strong you want a room to smell, how works best for your space and the atmosphere too. Plus, with the holidays coming up, this could be a great gift for someone in your life or something to ask for for yourself. There’s no right or wrong way to go about this, but I think that changing the way your space smells is a great way to elevate a space for you and any company you have.

So, I want to know, what’s your favorite way to go about making your space smell good? Let me know in the comments below.!

Happy Fall Y’all!!

What is something on your fall bucket list?!

Full disclosure, I have seen that phrase everywhere and wanted to try it for myself. I love fall and everything that goes with it. I love all the seasons for a variety of reasons, but there is something special about fall. Whether it’s the crisp, crunchy leaves under your feet while walking to class, hot apple cider in a mug to start off your day, or heading to a pumpkin patch.

Since October is well underway, I am sharing my fall bucket list of things I have done or things I plan to do.

  • Enjoy a warm mug of apple cider
  • Take a walk in the leaves
  • Make an apple recipe
  • Indulge in candy corn

I kicked off fall break with a fall fest
  • Decorate Pumpkins

My mom’s homemade apple crisp…so delicious
