February has flown by and I really hope Spring is around the corner. I am hoping this is the last winter outfit I get to share with you all. This outfit would be perfect for any Spring Break traveling or for running errands on the weekend.
I have shared this statement piece poncho before with a more dressed up look, but today’s outfit is all about being casual and comfortable. I got this poncho from the Scandal Style the Limited Collection. It is from the show Scandal, one of my favorite shows. Olivia Pope wore a look alike sweater like this in the series. It is both comfortable and chic, two things you want in the things you wear. The sweater is a big statement piece that changes my whole outfit.
I am wearing a simple pair of black leggings and a long sleeve black shirt under the poncho. They are both from GAP. I like to wear simple and neutral colors when I am wearing a bold, statement piece like this sweater.
These boots have been a lifesaver for me this year. They are from Sperry. They keep my feet warm and dry from rain, snow, and everything else in between. They are one of my smartest purchases. I got mine from DSW.
I’m wishing, hoping, and praying that this is my last winter fashion post. I am beyond ready for floral, pastels, and not more winter coats. Who else is with me!?!? Happy Thursday friends! See you on the flip side!
February has been flying by! It’s crazy that next week is March! Where has the month gone?!
Last week, I shared a professional outfit, today I have an outfit that would be perfect for date night or a night out with the girls. I wore this ensemble last weekend out to dinner and I got lots of compliments. I mixed a few pieces to pull this outfit together. Both my top and bottom are from Francesca’s Boutique.
Let’s start from the bottom. I am wearing my favorite shoe boots for a night on the town. They are comfortable, sleek, not too high, and they keep my feet warm with the snow. Once again, I got these shoes from DSW.
I am wearing my favorite skinny jeans. These black and ripped at the knee jeans are from Francesca’s Boutique. I have worn them previously in the fall with a short sleeve top, but since I was going out, I decided to dress these jeans up. I got this Michael Kors belt from Marshalls on sale. You never know what you will find at Marshalls. They always have great deals.
I am obsessed with this deep red, lace top. I also got it from Francesca’s Boutique. It has open shoulder sleeves which are very much in style this season. This top is very versatile. It cane be worn with a pair of blue jeans, a black skirt or how I am wearing them tonight, with a pair of black jeans. I have many more outfits planned in the future with this top in mind. It was a bit chilly out, so I wore a short black jacket to top the outfit off.
Since I was going out at night, I wore darker makeup. I also had worn simple accessories to make sure it didn’t take away from my statement piece, my top. I always feel better about myself and life when I am feel comfortable and confident in my clothes. Your clothes can truly change your mood. That’s a peak into my closet. Have a great weekend. See you on Tuesday!
It’s Thursday!! We are halfway through February! This month is going by too fast. This was a very busy week, but I got a lot of fun things planned for the weekend.
Today, I have a different out for you look of the day. Last week I had a lot of meetings which meant a lot of dressing up. Here’s an example of a business casual look I wore for an interview. I had a lot of these pieces already in my wardrobe it was just a matter of putting them all together. I wanted to look professional for my interview, but it also was the last thing of the day following a full day of classes with not enough time to change. I wore this outfit to all classes and then to an interview and dinner. I was comfortable the entire day and felt good about what I was wearing.
I wore my simple black shoe boots from DSW. I chose these since they were comfortable, professional, and simple. I wore a pair of black tights to go with my simple, black cotton dress.
I got this dress from Old Navy a few years ago just to have as an extra dress and I’m surprised how much I’ve worn it. I have worn it to Mass, Work Interviews, Class Presentations, even Funerals. I have gotten a lot of wear out of this dress and it was one of the smartest purchases I’ve made.
In order to break up the all lack of color, I wore a winter white sweater from the Scandal Style from The Limited Collection. I also paired a long necklace and pearl earrings to top off the look.
I am always looking for new ways to pull outfits together. When it comes to solid colors, you can mix and match them. There’s no better feeling than pulling a new outfit together with things you already have. I hope this draws some inspiration for the next time you wear a little black dress out.
Happy Thursday! How has your week been? Getting adjusted to being back to work after the holidays? Ready for the weekend?
Snow has been falling nonstop for the past few days. Life these days has been filled with snow covered streets and below freezing temperatures. Welcome to the East Coast!
I’m sharing a fresh look of the day. For those who live where snow falls more than half the year, or if you are used to more temperatures in the 30’s rather than the 80’s then this post is for you. Planning a ski trip to the mountains, keep on reading. I’m giving you a peak into my favorite winter essentials.
No matter the weather, a heavy coat is crucial. I got this coat for Christmas and it is not only stylish but warm. I got it from L.L. Bean. It can keep you warm from 0 to below 50 degrees. It is well insulated and well keep you warm walking to class or heading into work. Plus, who doesn’t love a big fur hood to keep your head warm.
Another winter essentials I can’t live without are snow boots. We all love our Uggs but they can get ruined after constantly walking through the snow. These boots from Sperry, but I got them for sale at DSW, not only keep my warm but are stylish. Add a pair of warm cabin socks and you have yourself a stylish outfit. I love pairing boot socks and short Sperry boots together. These cabin socks are another favorite winter essential.
I wore a pair of hounds tooth leggings with this outfit with a black blouse. I wanted to dress up this print leggings. Be on the lookout for that outfit in the upcoming weeks. This outfit kept me warm on a day with freezing temperatures. Also, I couldn’t end this post without a shout out to my cousin, Grace for taking these fantastic photos. She did phenomenal especially in the freezing cold. What are your must haves when it comes to winter fashion? Happy Thursday friends
It’s the last post of 2017! Where has the year gone!! Thank you to everyone who followed my journey and supported my first year as a blogger! I truly appreciate all the kind comments and you, the readers! Get ready for 2018, I have even more ideas and collaborations in the upcoming months. I hope you join me next week with the new year.
Today, I’m wrapping up 2017, with one last look and by far one of my favorites!!
I wore this outfit for Christmas. But, i have many more ideas of where I can wear this outfit.
I got this lace black dress from Charming Charlie. I’ve gotten accessories from there but never clothes! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the dress and the cost! I got it on sale right before the holidays. Win win! I know this dress will be something I have somehting in my collection for a while. A girl should always have a little black dress.
Since I wore a black dress, I wanted to add a pop of color. I wore cherry red nail polish from Chrome Girl Nails. It was a great sparkly red. I got this pair of red heels to go with this black dress from DSW. I was looking for something fun to go with this black dress and these shoes did the trick. My last pop of red came in the form of red lip stick!
I dressed the outfit up with a pair of pearl earrings and a pearl necklace and ring.
I got a monogrammed cute clutch for Christmas from a friend and it tied my whole outfit together.
Overall, i was very happy with how my outfit turned out. I know i will be able to wear this dress again and again!
Have a safe and joyous New Years! See you in 2018!!!
It’s officially fall! I love the leaves changing, the crisp air and the smell of apples all season long. But, as soon as the first snow fall hits, I am in the Christmas spirit. Thankfully, we have a few more months until it’s time for Christmas carols and sleigh bells.
Fall weather means it’s time for shoe boots, comfy sweaters, and hot apple cider. This outfit is perfect for an autumn walk or pumpkin carving. Although, you can’t see my shoes I wore a simple black, wedges shoe boot. These are my favorite shoe boots that I wear in the fall and winter. The heel is big enough to a long pair of jeans or a simple black skirt. I got these jeans from Old Navy. Old Navy is my go to for jeans, I love all the unique styles they have and there so many options that you can find one that fits your style and look. I am wearing the boot cut style in this picture and it works perfect for heeled shoe or boot. I got this black turtleneck sweater from GAP a few years ago both in black and a fuchsia pink. They are staples in my wardrobe for fall and winter. They are warm and comfortable but are also unique with the neck. A long necklace would make a perfect statement piece with this sweater. It’s also thick enough that you don’t need to wear another layer in the warmer fall weather. I am obsessed with hats this year, from monogrammed baseball hats, to floppy summer hats, and panama hats. I found this cowboy style hat on sale from DSW and I had to get it. It completes this outfit perfectly and I have found other outfits that I can add it to.
Finally, I have my hot drink in my hand, whether you are a #PSL girl or a hot apple cider girl like myself, a warm drink is crucial for fall. Speaking of which, I hope you are reading this blog with your favorite fall drink. Happy Thursday and TGIT (Thank God it’s Thursday)…if you get that reference I hope you are as pumped for tonight as I am!!!
Lots to talk about on this lovely Thursday! Today, I decided to change it up and show TWO different looks for two different women.
First, I want the give a HUGE shout out to my cousin for taking these amazing pictures. You will see more in future posts but here’s a sneak peek. She is so talented and I was so lucky to have her help me with these new shots.
Plus, how cute is her outfit?! I’m kinda obsessed. Her bold pants are so comfortable and are from TJ MAXX (one of my favorite stores) In a previous post I talked about how it’s good to have a few solid t-shirts in your wardrobe and its paying off. The white t-shirt complemented her pants perfectly. She got her shirt from TJMAXX as well and her shoes are from Marshalls. I love the straps on them! Thank you so much Anna!!
Now, for today’s looks I’m showing two different styles of dresses. Another big thank you to my mom, who stepped in front of the camera this time to show off her outfit. Both dresses are from Old Navy. They are both light weight which are great for summer and come in a variety of colors. I personally like to go with bright, bold colors so, I went with pink. My mom decided to go with blue, which is a more relaxed color.
Starting off with my look, I went the bright pink dress. I loved the cutouts in the front and back and I love how it was loose fitting. Since it is a solid color I can add different statement pieces. I decided to down play my look with just a simple pair of wedges. But, I could also add a sweater, jacket, or bold necklace to change up the look. I am always wearing these shoes. They are super comfortable, they are nude (gotta love a neutral color), and they are versatile. I can wear them with a dress, capris, or even jeans. Wedges are on my summer must have. I got mine from DSW.
My mom decided to add more accessories to her outfit. She went with a similar dress in blue (her favorite color). She also decided to get a style with longer sleeves. They are ¾ quarter length and the dress works great for a night on the town with a bit of a breeze. My mom decided to add some jewelry. Her necklace and bracelets are from Old Navy as well. I love to use jewelry to make a statement but I love dhow my mom had her jewelry match her dress. I also like how she wore a pair of sandals to dress down her outfit. I, on the other hand dressed it up with wedges.
I love how you can see two very different styles and outfit puts together from dresses that are so similar. I hope this gives you a few ideas for outfits to wear in the middle of the summer. As well, as show you how you can wear similar dresses in different ways.
Last week I shared a dressed up and more formal look, Today I am sharing how you can use the same pieces to dress the look down. I wore this over the weekend spending time with my family. It was a perfect casual look to sport.
Starting at the bottom, I got these gladiator sandals last summer from DSW and they have been a crucial part of my wardrobe. They are fun and unique since they are black, they can go with anything, shorts, skirts, even a t-shirt dress.
I got my shorts last summer as well from Marshalls but they are originally from Nine West. They are comfortable and a bit longer so you can wear a longer top with them.
This top is the same one I wore last week with my orange skirt. I got the top from Francesca’s.
The necklace is also the same from last week to add a pop of color! I purchased that from Francesca’s as well.
Lastly, the hat I got this summer from Marshalls. It was a total splurge purchase, but I am so happy I got it. It is big and protects you from the sun and it’s black which matched perfectly with my outfit.
Well, that’s the rundown of what I am wearing today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
