Three Looks for Work in the Summer

Hi friends!!! Happy Wednesday! Iā€™m off of work for the work for a much needed break to reset and recharge. It has been so nice to change up the pace and enjoy a week of summer.

But next week, itā€™s back to reality, which means back to work. Since I have started to work full time, one of the things Iā€™ve had to do is do some shopping for more professional clothes but also continue to update my wardrobe by mixing and matching outfits. I order several new dresses from Amazon, so be prepared for an Amazon Haul post coming soon!

Until then, I wanted to share three outfits for work for the summer, one is super professional, one is summer dress chic and the other is more work for on the go.

Letā€™s get to the most professional/ business casual.

This look is perfect for an interview or working in an office.

I wanted something that was neutral and simple and thatā€™s exactly what I got when it came to picking out this outfit.

I first started with this skirt, I got it from Marshallā€™s. I love how it is a pencil skirt and can be worn with a suit or just by itself.

I decided to add a dark blouse as my top. I got it from Francescaā€™s Boutique, as a summer blouse but I have found many more uses and ways to wear it through the years. Although, it is sleeveless, I added a blazer to match it. Although, different opposite colors, the black and the light gray skirt complement one another very well.

As, I mentioned above, I wore my gray blazer as a finishing touch. I got this blazer from Marshallā€™s as well, a few years back. Although, the blazer and the skirt are not a matching set, the interior of the blazer which is seen when cuffed is almost a perfect match to the skirt and the black top ties the whole outfit together.

These shoes are my new favorite pair for the spring/summer/fall. I loved them so much I got them both in black and nude, they are Kelly and Katie from DSW. They are comfortable and I love the heel, not too high but reasonable.

I matched the outfit with my work bag from Michael Kors, now this outfit may not be for everyoneā€™s work place, but itā€™s perfect for interviews or business meetings.

The next outfit is another one for the work place, professional but with more color.

I got this dress from Landā€™s End, there are so many things I like about this outfit. First, the color, I love how blue stands out. Itā€™s a pop of color but itā€™s not too overwhelming. The next thing I love about it, is the cut and style. It is a straight cut dress, but you can move in it, itā€™s not super restricting, also it has pockets!!!!

Lastly, I really like the material, it is string and durable.

I matched the dress with a pair of blue pumps from DSW as well.

I wear a lot of navy, so these get a lot of wear in the spring and summer months.

Onto the last outfit, this outfit is more on the go but still professional, some days Iā€™m working in an office and other days Iā€™m not, it all depends.

For the days Iā€™m not in an office, this is a great outfit on the go.

I got these pants from the Limited, I love how they are a straight cut pant and the navy makes them easy to with anything. Any print, bold or neutral color can go with it.

I got this pink top from Talbots, I really like the pop of summery color, plus it matches perfectly with the pink sweater from Gap. The blue and pink compliment each other very well. And to no oneā€™s surprise, I got these shoes from DSWā€¦surprise! Haha!

I also wanted to show how well my lunch tote matches my outfit.

Those are three separate outfits for work, from business professional, to sundress chic and on the go.

Stay tuned for more summer work outfits and next week, I have a supersized life update post! Be sure to check back next Wednesday for it!

See you then!

Look of the Day #132

LOTD

Hi All!

Since my last post, I have finished finals, finished work and have been packing and saying my goodbyes at school. Itā€™s been a different week with no set schedule or routine, by I am taking it for what it is and enjoying all my moments at school. I canā€™t believe that I am days away from graduationā€¦ it is quite a surreal feeling. One thing that I have taken away from my time at college is to always dress for success and the appropriate ways to dress for an interview or work.

Today, Iā€™m showing an outfit that is perfect for a job interview. It is professional and appropriate. Before, I get into the details, here are a few tips for dressing for an interview

-Keep your makeup simple and soft, donā€™t overdo it. You are going to get a job, not a date out with friends.

-The same goes for outfit choice, you want to choose an outfit thatā€™s modest and appropriate.

-Always be prepared for any interview, bring your resume and reference with you as well as something to write with and a planner to be prepared.

-Do your research on the company you are interviewing at and don’t forget some questions too.

Now, onto the outfit. This is perfect for an interview or first day of work.

Job interview…check!

I got this outfit from all different stores, but they all fit great together.

Ā First, these pants are from Talbots, I like the cut and style of the pant. They are a straight cut that go right to the ankle, which allows you to wear a small pump or heel. I opted for the same heels I wore for Thanksgiving. A simple black heel with a gold buckle. Kelly and Katie are my go-to for good quality shoes. It looks professional but it also adds length to your overall outfit.Ā

My black top, is a short sleeveless blouse from Francescaā€™s Boutique. I often wear it in the summer, but I opted for the outfit since it matches the pants and the blazer.Ā

This blazer is one that I wear often for formal occasions. I got it from Marshalls a few years back and I have worn it with dresses, jeans, and dress pants to fit any outing that I have.Ā

When I wore this outfit, I felt put together and professional-two big things to keep in mind for job interviews and work.

Well, I am hours away from graduation day. I am planning on enjoying my last few days as a college student before itā€™s time for something new. I will see you back here on Tuesday for a very special post.

Until then, xoxo

Look of the Day #118

LOTD

Hey guys! Happy Thursday! I am almost through with my first week of classes. Is it just me or does the first week of a new year/ job/ semester always seem to drag and be disorganized? I am looking forward to getting ahead on work this weekend and taking advantage of the long weekend too.

Since it is almost Labor Day, itā€™s almost time for all the white to be put away until next spring. Today, Iā€™m sharing one last summer white look of the day, that allows us to hold on for summer while also transitioning to cooler temperatures.

Last of the whites for the summer

Letā€™s start with this white cotton dress. By far, one of my favorite purchases. Itā€™s so easy to throw on for a date night or shopping trip, light weight for packing, and can be layered as well as dressed up or down. I purchased it from Old Navy a few years back and while I donā€™t wear it all the time, itā€™s nice to pull out to wear something different.

I wore it recently on a cooler morning, so I knew layering was a must. Instead of just a pink or navy sweater, I opted for a jean jacket. This is my favorite one from Old Navy. I love the way the cotton and jean jacket work well. It kept me warm while also being stylish.Ā

To finish off my look, I wore my go-to pink loafers. DSW is my go-to for all unique shoes, like these! I love the detail and design and they look so fun to add to solid outfit, not to mention that are very comfortable.Ā

Up close of the details in the dress and jacket

Although, Iā€™m sad summer is coming to an end, Iā€™m so glad we have warm weather here to stay! Just because we are putting white away doesnā€™t mean we are saying goodbye to summer outfits! Have an wonderful extra-long weekend!

Look of the Day #106

LOTD

Hi All!

Itā€™s Thursday and finally June! Today also happens to be two of my closets friendā€™s birthdays, my first and only roomie from college, Danielle, and my best friend from high school Madeline are both turning 21! I canā€™t wait to celebrate with both of them soon. I seriously donā€™t know where I would be without these gals and their unconditional love and friendship!

This weekend I am also going to be travelling to Pittsburgh to celebrate my birthday with all my college friends! I canā€™t wait!!! But before, I head out for the weekend, I have a few more days of work ahead of me. Todayā€™s look of the day is another business casual look for the office. I spend 90% of my day in the office so I am always putting together professional outfits and today is no different.

Letā€™s break down this professional look of the day!

For starters, I got these straight legged black dress pants from Old Navy, I was on the hunt for months for a nice dress pant that didnā€™t look like leggings, although I do wear leggings, the workplace is not the place for them. These dress pants are straight legged, professional, durable, all qualities I am looking for in a dress pant.

I opted for a simple pair of Mary Jane pumps from the Kelly and Katie collection at DSW. They do have a slight heel but very professional for the office, and VERY comfortable. I can wear them for 8-10 hours a day and have no serious pain.

Since I wore black dress pants and black shoes, I wanted to brighten up my look, I chose this pink/white/black blouse from Marshalls to wear with my outfit. It looks professional but also adds a pop of color!

A black blazer or white or black sweater would also be a great accessory. I added simple silver jewelry to polish off my look.

Thatā€™s a look into what I am wearing today at the office. Iā€™m off to wrap up these few days at work before my weekend away begins! See you all on Tuesday!

Look of the Day #102

LOTD

Hello all! Happy Thursday, I am wrapping up finals week. This week has flown by, I have been able to catch up with friends, make memories and wrap up the semester. I will be moving back home this weekend where I will be for the summer. On Tuesday, I will be sharing my semester recap-one of my favorite posts, but until then I have a look of the day that is all about spring, pastel colors. I love to add color to my outfits any chance I get, and this outfit was the perfect opportunity to channel all the spring vibes.

All Set for Spring

When I wore this outfit, I was running errands and wanted something comfortable but also chic. I got this mint green top from Francescaā€™s Boutique a few years back. I love how it is so versatile. I typically wear it dressed up with dress pants or a skirt, but it can be worn with jeans or leggings as well. This color is perfect for the spring and summer months, I also love that you can layer it if necessary. A long or short sweater would go perfectly with this combo.Ā

I opted for a pair of skinny black leggings with the bold, bright top. Gap is always my go-to for long-lasting durable leggings.Ā

My shoes are my favorite part of my outfit. I got these shoes on sale at DSW and immediately fell in love with them last year. I love how they are slides, but the pattern is so fun, bright, and colorful. These slide shoes are becoming so popular, I have seen them in so many stores. I have worn these shoes with dresses, skirts, dress pants, even rompers, but I loved how they looked with leggings and how the green in my top brought out my shoes. I will be getting a lot of use out of these this summer.Ā

How cute are these fun flats, they can go with so many outfits!

Lastly, I had to share my new favorite phone case/wristlet. I got it last year from MarleyLilly and not only do I love the monogram but I love that I can easily fit my phone and ID/credit card and be on the go, I donā€™t have to worry about taking a huge purse or not having pockets, this is the perfect size for the necessities.Ā

Who doesn’t get all the spring feels from this outfit?!

I am off to wrap up the last few days before its summer time. Have an enjoyable weekend! To all the moms out there-have a beautiful and restful Motherā€™s Day, thank you for all that you do, especially to my incredible mom! I’m so glad I will be home to celebrate Mother’s Day with her!

What can I say? I got it from my mom!

Look of the Day #101

LOTD

Hi All!

Happy Thursday!

Itā€™s officially the last week of classes. Iā€™m wrapping up my LAST spring semester and getting ready for summer. The end of the school year for graduating seniors means lots of ceremonies, celebrations and fun activities. Since, I am graduating in December, I am able to participate in a lot for the fun festivities. From Honorā€™s induction Ceremonies, to Senior Department Dinners, these past few weeks have busy but so fun! With all these events means lots of outfits. Today, Iā€™m sharing a business casual look that could work for one of these events as well as a job interview or day at the office.

A preppy and spring business casual outfit

I wore this look for an Induction ceremony, I didnā€™t get a whole lot of pictures of my look since I was busy, but letā€™s break down the look.

I love these navy blue dress pants from The Limited. They are perfect for the spring and summer since they go to the ankle. Also, with a solid pant, you can wear fun and bolder tops.Ā

I decided to wear the bright pink top. I got it from Francescaā€™s Boutique. I love how versatile this top is, I have worn it with jeans, leggings, a skirt, or dress pants. I really liked how it brought out the spring colors with the navy blue pants.Ā  I love to wear it with business casual outfits.

A more up close picture of the outfit

It was a bit breezy outside when I wore this wore this outfit and I wanted something to cover my shoulders. I was debating on wearing a blazer with it, but opted for a long white sweater to bring more color to the outfit. This is my favorite long sweater, I got it from the Scandal collection from The Limited. I loved how all these pieces worked well together.Ā

I finished the outfit off with a pair of nude heels from DSW a few years ago. These shoes are comfortable, versatile, and long lasting. I have worn them for years. There is nothing better than having a good pair of heels.Ā

A quick picture with my parents who came out to support me!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for your next business casual outfit. Donā€™t be afroad to step out of your comfort zone when putting outfits together.

I’m off to soak up one last weekend with my friends before we all go out separate ways for the summer. Have a great weekend! See you next Tuesday!

Look of the Day #100

HAPPY 100 LOOK OF THE DAY!

I canā€™t believe I have created 100 looks, when I started this blog almost 2 years ago, I had no idea I would still be able to create outfits, I do have to say I have worn multiple pieces time and time again on my blog, but I have mixed them up and made them fresh and new. One of my favorite things about fashion is the ability to re-wear outfits in different ways and using what you have in your closet to put together a look. You can constantly have new outfits without breaking the bank.

Todayā€™s look of the day is perfect for the spring weather we are experiencing. Last weekend, I was home to celebrate Easter with my family. I had found this dress a few months back and I couldnā€™t wait to wear it for Spring. Letā€™s get to this new number.

Floral for Easter

I was browsing a few months ago for some new pieces to add to my collection and one trend I kept seeing was floral patterns in different pieces. I found this perfect spring dress at Old Navy. I love that it is can be worn more dressed up for Church, going to work with a pair of heels and a sweater or more casual with a pair of sandals, and jean jacket. I got this floral pattern in a dress and scarf, but they also had it in blouses, tank tops, and dress pants. How fun?! Although, I could have gotten it in every article of clothing I opted for just the dress and scarf. Hereare similar dresses from Old Navy with the pattern in different cuts and styles.

I decided to dress this outfit up with a pair of heels. I absolutely love these pale-yellow heels. I got them from DSW from Kelly and Katie.Although, I donā€™t wear a lot of yellow, when I do have a lighter dress, or floral dress these shoes are the perfect pop of color. They tie the dress and other accessories together in a beautiful and simple way.

Up close of the details

I know this dress is going to be worn in heavy rotation this summer. The possibilities are endless with a bold dress like this to dress up or down. What article would you wear this pattern in? Dress? Blouse? Scarf? Dress Pants? Let me know in the comments below! Have a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the spring weather and spend some time outside!

Look of the Day #98

LOTD

Hi guys!

Happy Thursday!

I hope you all have had a fulfilling and productive week! Todayā€™s look of the day is going to be a bit different since I am going to be talking about a fashion trend and making it your own.Ā

One trend that never seems to go out of style is concert t-shirts. They are a great piece of memorabilia from going to your favorite concert and you can wear them time and time again, the one problem I have with concert t-shirts is knowing where and when to wear them. Just with jeans? With sweats around the house or to the gym? It can be a hard piece of clothing to wear with outfits. After collecting t-shirts from a lot of concerts, I think I found the solution. Make a statement outfit with you t-shirt.

Favorite mantra-favorite concert

Iā€™m going to show you an outfit I styled a few weeks ago, that still looks put together even with a t-shirt. Letā€™s get to it!

We will start with the central part of the outfit-the concert t-shirt. Last summer, I went to see The Piano Guys in concert in New York, for those of you who arenā€™t familiar with The Piano Guys, you should totally check them out they started on YouTube, perform covers of hit songs as well as write their own songs. They are still an up and coming group but already have a large following. I got one of their t-shirts when I saw them over the summer, their shirt is a quote from one of my favorite songs from them. You can listen to it here-seriously such an uplifting and motivating song.

Now, back to the outfit details, I paired this shirt with a new pair of black leggings that are fleece lined! Your girl is officially in heaven, not only are these leggings comfortable and long lasting but are now extra warm-perfect for cool evenings or chilly days. Believe it or not, I got these leggings for Christmas from the Hallmark store- you never know where you are going to find a new piece of clothing to add to your collection.Ā

Up close of the outfit

I paired the dark leggings with my go to high black boots from DSW, which as much as I hate to say it, I think this might be my last time wearing them for the season since Spring is around the corner, as much as I am ready and here for Spring, Iā€™m going to miss these staple shoes in my winter collection.Ā

Closer look at one of my favorite parts-the fleece lined leggings!

Since it was still a bit chilly out, I decided to wear my long off-white sweater just to have an extra layer on. Iā€™ve talked about this sweater time and time again but it truly is a go-to sweater for my wardrobe in every season. The sweater is from the Scandal Collection at The Limited.Ā

This outfit is the perfect compromise for making your favorite concert t-shirts into an outfit. What are your favorite ways to wear your favorite concert t-shirts?!

Let me know in the comments below!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Look of the Day #97

LOTD

Hi All!

Happy Thursday!

I hope you have a great week. Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am. This semester has been so busy yet so good. By the time the weekend rolls around, I am definitely ready for a rest!

Todayā€™s outfit is perfect for the transitional weather. The days when it is cold in the morning but warm in the afternoon. The colors I am wearing are also warmer cools, perfect for fall, and winter. Although, the weather is still chilly I am more than ready for Spring, I am ready for lighter colors, less layers, and more time in the sun. It has been a VERY long winter. Haha! Letā€™s get to todayā€™s look of the day.

Transitional clothing for the win

I decided to first put together this outfit by mixing and matching different pieces that I typically donā€™t wear together. I first started to put this outfit together by matching a simple pair of jeans and a white shirt. I got these regular jeans from Old Navy, my go to place for jeans. My plain white t-shirt is from Gap. Old Navy and Gap are my go-to places for affordable but good quality clothes. I love to pop in whenever Iā€™m home just to see what things are new and in stock.

I love this burgundy sweater from American Eagle. I donā€™t wear it often, but when I do, I love what it does to an outfit. It is big and bulky, but it keeps me so warm and cozy. Especially during transitional weather, I donā€™t even need a jacket to wear when I am out and about with this sweater. Plus, I love the pop of color it brings to an outfit. It really breaks up the simple blue jeans and white shirt look.

Lastly, I am rocking my go-to black boots from DSW. When I got these boots last spring I never would have guessed that I would be wearing them so much and putting them with so many outfits. They have been easily my favorite and most worn purchase in a long time.

A perfect outfit for fall, winter, and early spring

Thatā€™s a look into what I have been wearing these in between days. My fingers are crossed for some consistent weather soon. See you on Tuesday for a look into whatā€™s been going on in my life. Have a great weekend!

Look of the Day #96

LOTD

Hi everyone!

Happy, happy Thursday! I hope you all had a great week. Itā€™s crazy how fast this week went by. I am headed home for the weekend to see my family since I havenā€™t seen them since coming back from Rome. It will be nice to relax for a bit since I have been going non-stop these past few weeks.

Last weekend, I went to a semi-formal dance with my friends from school. It was the last one for me and so many friends since they are graduating in May and Iā€™ll be graduating in December. My good friend Bailey and I made a weekend out of it and had the best time. We started out with dinner, hung out with friends, went to the dance, and hit up the gym and breakfast the next day. It was by far one of my favorite weekends of the year. I wanted to share the details of my outfit for todayā€™s look of the day. I canā€™t wait to share this more formal look with you all.Ā

Starting out night out with the dance
I don’t know what I would do without this girl. Truly the best friend I could ask for!
My friend Danielle was also at the dance and we had a blast dancing the night away
Bailey and I along with our friend Olivia hit up the gym early the next morning
Followed by brunch, I love these girls to death, not sure what I’m going do without them next year.

I have been going to all my semi-formals in college and I havenā€™t bought one dress, Iā€™ve reworn all the dresses from past homecomings or other formal occasions. I will admit, I look much better in the dresses in college than I do in high school, itā€™s amazing what a few years can do. HA! Hereā€™s a look down memory laneā€¦

First, letā€™s start with the dress. I got this dress a few years back and I wore it for Christmas. I loved it when I wore it then and I was so excited to wear it again. The cream-colored dress was perfect for spring and the scalloped neckline was my favorite part of the dress, not to mention the unique material. I got this dress from Francescaā€™s Boutique.

All ready for a night out

Since the dress is very simple, I knew I needed a few pops of color, that came in the form of my red shoes, jewelry and makeup accents.

Up close of the dress

I got these red pumps from DSW last year and although they arenā€™t my go-to shoes, they are great to have to add a pop of color to an outfit. I got them last year to wear with my all black dress I wore for Christmas, you can see that outfit here.  I always think itā€™s important to have a fun shoe to add a pop of color to a neutral outfit.

I also opted for a bit of colors in my jewelry. Since the neckline was unique, I didnā€™t want anything overpowering.

I also made the decision to wear more neutral make up but add a pop of color with my lip choice of a bright red. I wanted the accent color of red to stand out without being too over powering.

I always love the opportunity to dress up for a fun night out and last weekend was the best. After a busy week, Iā€™m looking forward to a quiet weekend at home. See you all on Tuesday!
