What I’m Thankful For

Hey guysā€¦happy Wednesday! We are slowly but surely making our way through November. These past few weeks have been filled with work, catching up on reading, going on fall drives and cozing up with warm drinks and lots of baking…all my favorite things!

As we get closer and closer to Thanksgiving I want to take some time share what Iā€™m thankful for. I do this kind of post every year and while the list stays the same itā€™s always a good reminder and it puts things in perspective of whatā€™s important.

I could spend all day working on this list, from my loving family, supportive families, a great job, food on the table, my faith etc, but I wanted to highlight a few specific things Iā€™m thankful for this year.

-Covid-19 vaccine.

After being in this pandemic for almost two years, I was so thankful I was able to get my vaccine as an extra layer of protection against the virus.

Such a milestone this year.

-Seeing friends

Thanks to vaccines, Iā€™ve been able to see more friends this year, from high school and college. Weekly coffee dates are back, traveling for day trips were a big hit this summer and being able to be in one of my best friendā€™s weddings this summer was the cherry on top.

Seeing friends in person has been huge!

-Growing in my job

Iā€™m so thankful I was able to learn and grow in my role at work. Iā€™ve seen a change in myself with how I tell stories and in my confidence. I am always looking for ways to grow and Iā€™m so lucky to have so many wonderful mentors and co-workers to help me grow and learn every day.

I’ve grown a lot in front of and behind the camera.

-My Health

It goes without saying but Iā€™m so thankful Iā€™ve been able to stay healthy amid the pandemic. In these trying times Iā€™m so grateful for my good health and for the good health of my loved ones too, from family to friends, co-workers and neighbors, these past few years have taught me whatā€™s important in life.Ā

I’m so grateful for my health

-My Support System

From my incredible family to my friends, my co-workers and relatives, there have been so many times this year that Iā€™ve been reminded of how lucky I am. Whether itā€™s my family moving around dinner times to accommodate an early morning wake-up, my friends who listen to me when I need to talk or take me on an adventure when I need to clear my mind, or my co-workers who help me grow in my job. Not a day goes by when Iā€™m not thankful for all the incredible people in my life.

I wouldn’t be here without my family!

I do these kinds of posts every year to remind me how lucky I am and how grateful I am for all my blessings. I have so much to be thankful for in my life.

I hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Blog Anniversary

Hi everyone!

Happy Wednesdayā€¦I canā€™t believe I am typing this, but itā€™s my blog-anniversary.

Iā€™ve been sharing bits and pieces of my life for the past four years, from college musings, to first time jobs, outfits, ways to organize, travel diaries, fitness routines, friends, family moments and more.Ā

When I first started my blog, I used it as a way to keep busy and have a creative outlet and it has given me that and so much more! Itā€™s been fun to look and back and read some of my earlier posts to my posts today. In some ways I havenā€™t changed at all, in other ways I have grown a lot.Ā

In honor of my four years of blogging, Iā€™m sharing some of my favorite posts of the past year.

Throughout the past year, my life has revolved around work, family time, trying new hobbies like reading and cooking, continuing to build friendships and relationships and of course the pandemic.Ā

Here are some of my favorite posts from the past year.

Since work was a huge part of my life, it only makes sense that one of my favorite posts was about a day in my work life. To get a sneak peek into my work life, you can read about it here.

Working the anchor desk this weekend.

Sticking with news, December marked one year since I started working in news, so I did a post about what itā€™s been like along with some of my favorite stories. You can learn more about that post here.

New year, new head shots

Something that goes along with work is fashion. Since I have to dress up every day, Iā€™ve enjoyed shopping for cute and affordable outfits and dresses. During the pandemic, Amazon was a huge help for finding dresses, here are some of my favorite looks. You can see them here.

One of my latest Amazon finds.

One of my favorite hobbies this past year has been learning to cook and bake. You can check out my Instagram stories to see my latest recipes. In the fall, I went apple picking and made a ton of apple recipes. Here are three of my favorites.

Lots of apples equals lots of recipes.

Organization is another big part of my life. Establishing routines and habits are a game changer for a smooth day. I shared some of my favorite routines that you can read about here.

Staying organized keeps my life in order

The biggest thing that dominated my life both personally and professionally was the pandemic. I shared what the past year was like for me here.

The new normal while working, masks and all

And last but certainly not least, I was so happy to finally give my blog upgrade thanks to my friend Marley! You can read all about the upgrade here.

New logo and branding

This year has been very different than I planned but I was so happy with everything I did this past year. In the next year, Iā€™m hoping to have more travel diaries, more recipes, more adventures and more time with family, friends and loved ones.

Thank you to everyone who has read, followed along and supported me. Whether this was your first time or you have been reading since Day 1, Iā€™m so happy to have you along with me. Hereā€™s to a new year!

One Year Since the World Changed

Hi all! Happy Wednesday! A very happy St. Patrick’s Day to those who celebrate! I hope your week is off to a good start. This week, both at work and at home, thereā€™s been a lot of reflection of a year ago and where we were then compared to where we are now.

IĀ remember just over a year ago, I started a new shift at work, and on that night, the NBA shutdown, and Covid-19 was declared a pandemic, we thought it would be a two week period of people staying at home and then it would be back to normal, and boy were we wrongā€¦here we are… one year laterā€¦months of staying at home, countless events cancelled, missed moments, and learning new things every day about a virus. The words: pandemic, Zoom, N-95, testing, Pfizer, Moderna, social distancing and more, all became part of our vocabulary.

Almost a year ago…I went in for a haircut, little did I know it would be my last one for months…also the day, Covid-19 was declared a pandemic.

In the past year, we spent more time with family, picked up new hobbies, shifted our priorities and binge-watched a lot of tv.

We spent a lot of extra time at home and with family in the spring.

We had setbacks but saw great advances in science and medicine. Our daily lives were altered but here we are, all changed but still standing.

Itā€™s hard to imagine how much has changed in a year, in some ways itā€™s almost as if the year didnā€™t happen. But when I look back, Iā€™m glad this past year happened. I grew a lot at work, every day the news was changing, we were constantly shifting gears and working to provide viewers with the latest news and updates.

How it looks to work in news during a pandemic

Although, I couldnā€™t see as many friends in person this year, zoom and facetime became the biggest tools. From bi-weekly calls with best friends to Book Club via facetime, my friends and I made it work to still in touch while being spread a apart.

Seeing friends in the summer involved being socially distant and masked up

The best part was the extra time with family, having my whole family home together for months at a time was such a blessing. We watched movies, worked on house projects, had most meals together and got quality time that wouldnā€™t have happened had there not been a pandemic.Ā

The pandemic brought lots of extra time outside.

No one could have imagined what this past year would bring. There has been enormous loss and devastation but also unity as a nation. I realized what things were important to me and at the end of the day, Iā€™m so grateful for having a job I love, a loving and supportive family and my health.

In times of crisis, I think we truly realize whatā€™s important and what matters.

It was a year of chaos, change and adapting, but here we are, stronger than ever.

Itā€™s been a year of constant change and confusion, but also growth and love.

How much have you changed this last year?
