Halloween Costume 2018

Hello All!

Happy (almost) Halloween!!

No matter what age, I always like celebrating Halloween from the candy to the creative costumes and all the fun fall activities that go along with it. This past weekend was the Halloween dance at my school. Itā€™s a big dance that everyone goes to. I love to see all the fun costumes that people come up with and dance the night away with my friends.

This year I had such a hard time coming up with a costume for Halloween. I had gone through a whole list of suggestions and ideas for what to go as. I finally landed on an idea that was creative and out of the box, or so I thought.

Happy Halloween!!!

I went as someone from a masked ball.

In high school, my junior promā€™s theme was masquerade and I got this beautiful, painted mask from Pier One. I loved wearing the masked to my prom and I was looking for an excuse to wear it again. The costume was the perfect opportunity. So, letā€™s break down my costume.

I got the mask from Pier One a few years ago, I love how detailed it is and how ornate it is as well.

The black dress I wore was an old dress I had from high school. I wore it to one of my high school homecomings as well as a college dance. I love being able to re-wear clothes for different occasions. This was the perfect opportunity to wear this fun party dress again in a different setting,

My shoes are another favorite part of my outfit. I wore them to my senior prom in high school and I was so excited to re-wear them again in college for this dance. My mask has some gold elements in it so I was very happy to add these shoes to my outfit.

I put my own spin on my masked ball costume. I was very happy with how my costume turned out and I had a great time.

If dressing up isn’t your thing then try getting into the Halloween spirit with these creepy movies:

  1. The Sixth Sense

This is about a 3/10 on the Scary scale. It’s about aĀ psychologist who works with his young patient about the ghosts and spirits he sees and how he communicates with them. A classic Halloween movie to get you in the Spooky season.

The Sixth Sense
  1. The Ritual

This is about a 5/10 on the scary scale. This is a newer film through Netflix. It is about four friends who go on a hiking trip in the woods and the scary things that happen to them in the forest, the biggest question-do they all make it out alive??

The Ritual

What are your plans for Halloween? What is your favorite Halloween costume? Have a safe, fun, sweet and happy Halloween!

Look of the Day #75

LOTD

Happy Thursday, only one more day till the weekend! We can do it. I have a lot of fun things planned for the weekend ahead. For starters, I donā€™t have to work (yay) and then there is a big Halloween Dance tomorrow which I am very excited for, my costume will be revealed soon. Any guesses yet?

I am so excited to share this fall outfit with you all today! From the colors, to the style and the cut, it describes fall perfectly! Yes, it is a short sleeve dress but the fall weather always changes, some days it is 70ā€™s and sunny and other days it is chilly and in the 40ā€™s this outfit can be worn by itself or a jean jacket or leather jacket can be added to make the outfit warmer. Letā€™s break the outfit down.

A perfect fall outfit

I got this mustard yellow t-shirt dress from Gap this year. I loved not only the color but how lightweight it is. This makes it so much easier when it comes to layering. This dress would be perfect for the summer and fall. Another great transitional piece of clothing.

I also got this scarf from Gap. I love the small flowers and I also love how it matches the dress perfectly. This scarf can be worn in many different styles, for this dress I thought it looked best this way.

A close up of the boots

My boot socks and boots tie the outfit together perfectly. I love the small buttons on the socks and the dark tan is perfect for fall. The dark brown boots also compliment the socks too. The dark boots also give the outfit a more fall feel.

I can see myself wearing this outfit a lot more this fall season. I could see myself added a jean jacket, leather jacket, tights or even leggings when the weather gets cooler.

What are some of your favorite fall accessories? Do you have any fun Halloween plans this weekend or next week?

Fall Activities

Hello All!

Happy Tuesday!

I canā€™t believe we are almost to the end of October. Last weekend was super busy, I worked a lot so I am looking forward to a slower week ahead and a fun weekend too. This month flew by, I think going home for Fall Break for a few days definitely broke up the month. Speaking of fall break. I had the best time at home. I unplugged and unwound which was much needed. It was so good to get away from school and work for a break and escape to my home for some down time. I also managed to get some fun fall time in. Here are some suggestions for some fall festivities as well as a recap from my time home.

  • Fall Drive

Take a fun drive to see the changing leaves, pumpkin patches or take the back roads instead of the highways. I always can clear my head best with a long car drive and some good music. The fall and right around Christmas (especially to see the colorful Christmas lights and decorations) are the best time to take a nice drive.

Yes, this may be from my backyard but can you blame me? The sky and the trees compliment each other perfectly
  • Pumpkin Patch/Farm

Pumpkins and October go hand and hand. I love picking out a pumpkin for my room at school and I canā€™t help but look at all the flowers, dĆ©cor, and arrangements for fall. I also love to hit up some fall festivals and enjoy the changing weather. Plus there is nothing better than walking around a pumpkin farm with a hot cup of apple cider.

My two friends and I headed to a fall fest to kick off fall break. It was fun to relax and walk around and see all the fun booths and snack on tasty treats.
My sweet friends Olivia and Bailey and I hit up a fall festival and we had the best time. It was spontaneous and the best way to spend a Friday afternoon
I headed to a pumpkin farm while I was home and I loved this display. The colors scream fall.
I love all the shapes and colors gourds come in, they are always so unique!
So many pumpkins, this is one of the best parts about October. I love seeing all the shapes and sizes of pumpkins.
Here’s an arrangement I made up from things I bought at the pumpkin farm.
  • Warm Drinks and Dessert

Whether you are a pumpkin spice latte lover, hot apple cider fan or love some dessert than fall is the perfect time to enjoy some sweet and savory treats. I personally am a fan of everything apple.

My momā€™s homemade apple crisp heated with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a drizzle of caramel hits the spot. As far as drinks go, my favorite fall drink is apple cider with my own spin of it. I love to drink hot apple cider with cinnamon, some whipped cream and a pump of caramel. Yum! So sweet and delicious.

My favorite fall dessert made by my mom

Well, there you have it, some fun suggestions for fall activities and my personal favorite fall treats. Yes, I know I left out Halloween. I loved dressing up as a child and going Trick or Treating. This weekend there is a Halloween Dance at School, so I will be sharing my costume next week. Do you have any guesses? What are some things on your fall bucket list?

Happy Thursday!

It has been a well-paced week after fall break. This weekend will be a busy one for me as I have to work but itā€™s the last time I have to work weekends this semester. Yay!! Itā€™s the little things in life that bring me bursts of joy. Haha!

Well, we are more than half way through October which means we are fully in the midst of the fall season. Todayā€™s outfit is perfect for a fall walk, a trip to a coffee shop or going to class. It is both cuddly and cozy-two of my favorite fall things. Just give me a cup of hot apple cider and a good book and then I am one happy girl.

Festive for fall

Letā€™s break down this fall outfit. I love the oversized turtle neck sweater from Gap. I also have a hot pink one too that I love to wear in the fall. You can dress up or dress down this sweater with another outfit. It can be worn with jeans, leggings, or even a pencil skirt for a more formal look.

I paired the black sweater with a pair of floral leggings from Old Navy. I love the gray, black, and tan small flowers. They donā€™t look like leggings especially with the pattern and the big sweater.

I decided to top this outfit off with a pair of tan and black ballet flats. I love how these shoes tie the whole outfit together. I got these cute ballet flats from Forever 21, I have worn them to work, classes, or out shopping. They are both stylish and comfortable. Ā The colors tan, gray, and black all scream fall to me to I love wearing them together.

What outfits do you like to wear to bring in the fall season?

Book Review: A Simplified Life

Hello All!

Happy Tuesday! I am wrapping up fall break this week. It has been so nice to be home for a long weekend. The extra rest and relaxation was well deserved. It’s crazy to think that the fall semester is almost halfway through! This year is moving very fast.

Getting some reading in

One of my favorite hobbies is reading, I have always loved to read a child and I still try to read as much as I can as a young adult. However, being a college student, I donā€™t have a lot of time to read the things I want to read. Right now, my amazon cart/list is full of books I want to buy or read. I am serious book worm. This summer I was able to read a lot. You can check out my book reviews here. Throughout the semester I have been able to read one book in my free time and Iā€™m so glad I did. I am a huge fan of Emily Ley, she is an author, planner maker, and lives her life to the simplest. If you havenā€™t heard of her, please check her out, she is such an inspiration and a girl boss!

Grace Not Perfection

I read her first book, Grace Not Perfection, last year and absolutely loved it. I wrote what I learned about it here. When she came out with her second book, The Simplified Life, I knew I had to read it. I am so glad I did. She breaks down ways to simplify your life chapter by chapter. She talks about simplifying your home, your faith, your finances, you family, and so many more areas. Her book is interactive, so you journal as you read. I learned so much from reading and it really encouraged me to simplify more areas of my life, not just with material things but also commitments. Ā I would recommend this book to anyone, the busy mom, the single gal, the college student, or the grandmother. I think everyone can learn something from it and make a few changes in their lives whether it is big or small. I read the book over the course of a month but it can be easily read in a sitting or two. Once I finished her book, I felt refreshed and ready to tackle areas of my life. I felt inspired and empowered.

A Simplified Life

If you are looking for a good book that will make you want to make changes in your life, this is it. Overall, I would give this book an A-. Have you heard of Emily Ley? What changes would you want to make in your life to make it more simplified?

Look of the Day #73

LOTD

Hello All!

Happy Thursday!

Today, is a very good day as tomorrow is fall break. The first half of the semester has been very busy, so I am looking forward to having some much-needed time off. In the midst of midterms and papers, I keep reminiscing about my Ed Sheeran concert last week. One of my favorite souvenirs to get at a concert are the t-shits! They are a good reminder of the event and you can wear them often. When I have gone to concerts in the past and I get t shirts, I really like to make a whole outfit of it not just a regular t-shirt.

Turning a t-shirt into an outfit

Todayā€™s look of the day is dressing up a t-shirt into a cute outfit. The statement piece of this outfit is obviously my Ed Sheeran t-shirt. I opted for the white t-shirt instead of a black one to break up the colors.

Since it is fall and the weather is cooler, I decided to wear a pair of straight cut jeans, yes, the same ones from the concert, they are not only comfortable, but you can dress them or down. I got my jeans from Old Navy.

I added some brown hues to my wardrobe with my boots and jacket. These peep toe brown boots are perfect for fall, especially when the weather is cool in the morning but warm in the afternoon. I got these boots for an affordable price at T.J. Maxx.

Since my concert shirt is short sleeves, I knew a jacket was a must. I wore this brown leather jacket from Francescaā€™s to finish off my outfit. It not only kept me warm, but it was also stylish.

This was just one way to wear a concert t-shirt. I did go to a few other concerts this past summer, so I will be showing you other ways to wear this look.

Iā€™m off to wrap up my last few classes before it is officially fall break! I am counting down the minutes.

Have a fall-tastic weekend!

Hi All!

Today I am sharing a fun outfit that screams fall. You may recognize as it wore it to my concert to see Ed Sheeran last weekend. I wanted something that is fun and that I could dress up. This outfit was the perfect fit. I am looking forward to wearing this outfit more this fall on many occasions, to class, out to dinner, or on a coffee date. I canā€™t wait to wear this outfit more. I love wearing this mustard color for fall.

Concert ready

I got these regular cut, straight fit jeans from Old Navy. I love the way they fit and all the different kinds of shoes you can wear them with. You can wear ballet flats, shoe boots, or heels with them. The possibilities are endless, these are my favorite pair of jeans.

Up close of top and jacket

I am loving this fall top. I got this top from GAP at the beginning of this season. The off white and little flowers are perfect details for fall. I also like the fall colors in the top. The sleeves also are so fun and flirty. If you are wearing this night, a light mustard color sweater would be a perfect accessory to go with this outfit. I am wearing a brown leather jacket would be great for a chillier evening like I am wearing here.

Lastly, my brown peep toe shoe boots are my favorite fall heels. I love that they are a great transitional shoe from summer to fall. I got my peep toe boots from T.J. Maxx. Not only are the cute but super affordable.

Another full look of the outfit

This outfit has me in the mood for fall. Bring on the shoe boots, sweaters, jeans, and leather, because fall is calling and I am all here for it.

Have a great weekend!

Hello All!

Itā€™s Thursday! Also known as TGIT!! Anyone else out there looking forward to the return of Greyā€™s tonight?! I know I am ready for all my fall shows to be back! This has been a busy but productive week! Iā€™m looking forward to a fun weekend with little to no work. It is a well deserved weekend off. I hope you have something fun planned for this weekend!

Now, that it is officially finally fallā€¦I hope the weather continues to cool off. This past week the weather varied from being hot to rainy and cool. Iā€™m ready for some consistent weather. The outfit I am wearing today is perfect for getting ready for the fall weather while it is still warm out.

A mix of summer and fall

I am wearing this light tank top from Old Navy. I also have it in orange and I love to wear them both with shorts, jeans, or leggings like today. I love the contrasting colors between the blue and the black.

I am wearing a pair of black leather leggings. This also have a fun print on them which breaks up the black. I got these leggings from Target. These pants were a great addition to my outfit. Although, it was sunny outside it was only in the high 60ā€™s so I stayed comfortable with these pants.

I matched my pants with these cute dress sneakers. I got them for summer but I have worm them a lot in the fall. As always, Target was my go-to for these fun shoes. They go perfect with jeans, shorts, and leggingsā€¦not to mention they are comfortable and stylish. What more could you ask for?!

I canā€™t wait to bring out my fall wardrobe and wear it full time and not just mix and match outfits. Until then I am going to soak up the last bit of sunshine before the cold weather hits.

Have a great weekend and do something fun!

Fun Ways to Organize

What’s on My Phone?

Hi Guys!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had restful weekends! My weekend was pretty busy between homework, work, and the semester full underway, it was hectic to say the least. I am looking forward to this coming weekend as it will be filled with activities, family, and some R&R!

On todayā€™s agenda, I wanted to share how I organize my phone and some of my favorite apps on my phone that make my life easier and more efficient. Now, as 20 year old, I do use social media a lot on my phone both for my blog and for my own personal use. However, I am just going to focus on apps, that make my life easier and more organized. This post is not sponsored or an advertisement, Iā€™m just sharing what apps work best in my life and how I keep my phone organized.

What’s on my iPhone?

On the first screen, I keep most of my apps in their original place. I donā€™t like to move my apps around too much because I like to keep it simple and not complicated. My phone, safari, mail, music, messages, and notes are all near each other so I can access them easily.

First screen

On my second screen are the more speciality apps.

Second Screen

My first row are my apps for social media which include Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and the E News app where I get all the scoop from Hollywood. I use these every day even multiple times a day.

The second row are apps that I use that are clustered based on use. (minus pinterest- another form of social media but I ran out of room on the first row). My first cluster is for school. Outlook is great for collecting my school emails, GroupMe is so helpful for group messages, Schoology keeps all my assignments in one place, Cam Scanner is great for copying notes, and Remind is a great Reminder app.

School Apps

My second cluster is for work which include Linkedin, Facebook, and Messenger all used for work purposes not fun.

Work Apps

The last cluster is all the other apps that I donā€™t use all the time including Contacts, Stocks, Files, Compass, any other apps that I donā€™t use all the time.

Extra Apps

The third row includes my personal apps which include my online banking app, my Fitbit that tracks everything on my Fitbit, my Countdown app for important days, and Sprinkle of Jesus, a great app full of inspiration.

My last row includes three clusters.

The first for entertainment; which include Amazon Music and Video, Netflix, Pandora, and Podcasts, they are tucked away so Iā€™m not distracted.

Entertainment Apps

My second cluster Ā has my favorite shopping and food apps which include Apple Wallet, Amazon Prime, and Panera Bread and Chipotle, my favorite eateries.

Food and Shopping Apps

Lastly, photos and videos which includes Layout, VSCO, Followers, and Repost all important for blogging.

Photos and Video Apps

Now onto my favorite apps.

–Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Notes

Everyone with a smart phone has some kind of notes app and it is so helpful. I use my notes every day. I keep To-Do lists, Reminders, Movies that I want to watch, and Books I want to read, Passwords, and anything else I need to be accessible at all times. I use my notes all the time and it is so helpful to have it be synced with laptop and ipad to I have all my notes with me on any device. Notes keeps me on top of anything that gets thrown my way through the day.

–Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā GroupMe

This is one of my most used apps. It is an app just for group messages. It is so helpful to keep all my group messages in one area and not mixed in with all my other personal messages. For my job at school, we use GroupMe to communicate fast and efficiently. GroupMe is also super helpful when it comes to group projects, work meetings, or just friends making plans.Ā  This app is free and can be found in the app store. Overall, GroupMe has made my life at school much more organized

–Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Sprinkle of Jesus

Not an organizational tool but this app sends you positive reminders and mantras throughout the day. Whenever, I need a pick me up, Sprinkle of Jesus is always there. Some of the quotes hit close to home. They also have great content too. This is free and found in the app store.

Whew, thatā€™s a look into my phone and what apps Im totally hooked on. Also, I keep my background fairly simple so Iā€™m not distracted with a busy background. What apps are you hooked on and what tips do you have when it comes to organizing your phone?

Look of the Day #70

LOTD

Happy Thursday!

I hope you all have a had a good week. My week was very productive, and this weekend will be busy due to working this weekend. So, remember when I said I couldnā€™t wait for fall weather? Well, I got my wish. It has been so rainy and chilly that it definitely felt like fall, which I am very happy about. This outfit is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. I love mixing a short sleeve top with jeans. I wore this outfit to class and then a dinner last week and I loved it so much I had to share it. You may recognize this outfit as it was one that I had planned ahead for. Planning my outfits have been so helpful especially on busy mornings.

A perfect outfit transitioning to fall

So, lets break this look down.

These are my favorite regular cut jeans from Old Navy. I love the cut and style and they are perfect for fall, since you can still wear a flat or cute shoe as well as a pair of peep toe boots. Ā These suede saddle shoes are from GAP.I love not only the color but how light they are. They can be worn in spring, summer, and fall. I love shoes that can be worn in many seasons.

Lastly, this top is from Francescaā€™s Boutique. I have had it for a few years and always like to bring it out to change out my wardrobe. I love the detailing on the top. It truly makes it a fun piece of clothing to add to a pair of jeans. This top would also be great with dress pants for a day in the office.

This outfit was perfect for fall weather, when itā€™s cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon.

I canā€™t wait for fall weather to set in full time, until then I will continue to transitioning my outfits.

Have a great weekend and go out and enjoy this fall weather.
