Look of the Day #4

LOTD

So a few weeks ago I talked about my favorite jean jacket which I wore a ton in the spring. Well today, I’m going to be talking about my favorite summer pair of pants. Since Memorial Day has come and gone it’s time to break out the white! Yes, I fully believe in wearing white from Memorial Day to Labor Day!

I have had these white capris for a few years and they are my absolute favorite! You can dress them up or down! I try to look for clothes that can be worn in a lot of ways. I also love how you can change an outfit so easily with the help of accessories!

I wore this outfit to work a few days ago and I dressed it up. I matched the white capris with a blue and white pin strip shirt and my go-to Kelly and Katie sandals! I decided to wear a bold necklace to accessorize my outfit! The capris are from American Eagle.  American Eagle is a hit or miss for me. I only have a few pieces of clothes from there, but I have friends who love to shop there. It all comes down to what works best for you. The top is from Gap which can be a hit or miss for me! Sometimes I walk out with a few outfits, other times I have no luck! The necklace is from Francesca’s. I love going to Francesca’s to get new accessories, outfits, dresses or just look around! Francesca’s is like Target for me, you always feel better after going there whether you buy anything or not (most of the time, I am guilty of buying something)!

Happy Thursday!!

My Fitness Journey {Part 1}

The only  picture I actually have from the gym, yep, no selfies that early in the morning!

Fitness has become a big part of my life this past year. Instead of writing one huge blog post about fitness, I’m going to split it up into three posts over the next few weeks. The first one will be about how I first started getting into working out and being fit, the second one will be ways to work out whether you are at your home or a gym, and the third one is staying fit and not giving up.

So, let’s start at the beginning. Why did I get into fitness and working out?

We all have varied reasons for wanting to work out. Some work out to lose weight, others do it to get ready for summer.

I started working out last October, because I was bored, believe it or not! College is a lot of fun between activities, classes, and sleeping, but during my first semester I found myself with a lot of free time that needed filled, (there is only so much work you can do to get ahead in classes and only so much Netflix to watch). I started going to work out three times a week. I went once during the week between classes and then on Saturday and Sunday. I went by myself a lot, but eventually encouraged other friends to tag along (one of my favorite days was when my roommate decided to join me! I was on cloud 9!!!). My one close friend and I went a lot together during the fall, we had a similar schedule and would work out between classes. The gym was a wonderful way for us to hang out and get fit at the same time. She was my first gym buddy!

Every semester brings changes, from friends, to schedules, and classes. During my second semester, I had A LOT of free time. I had some days when my classes didn’t start until 12:30! Now, I am an early riser, I feel most productive in the mornings. I decided to change my fitness regime to working out first thing in the morning, that’s right at 7 AM! I went three mornings a week before classes and then still on the weekends. Working out five days a week was a great stress reliever for me, when my schedule got so crazy, or I couldn’t focus anymore, the gym was a place where I could forget all my troubles and just focus on burning calories!

Please note, Shay and I NEVER look like this at the gym every morning. In reality, we look sleep deprived, sweaty, and stressed!

One of the biggest things I learned during my fitness journey is to have someone to motivate you! I found that during my spring semester. I started going every morning with someone who became one of my closest friends. I met Shayln in one of my classes and I found out we both loved to work out. Every morning no matter, rain, shine, snow, or even skunk (yes, we have encountered a few!) we met up at 7:10 to go work out, then we would come back and finish homework, study, watch Netflix, or even nap until we met up for lunch and then classes. Even though we were half asleep most mornings while working out and sometimes couldn’t even hold a conversation, we felt so much better after getting up and doing something productive. By having a routine, you meet people, when you see the same people every morning, sleep deprived and still running on the treadmill, you will become friends.  One of the things I miss the most about school in the summer is waking up every morning and hitting the gym with Shay!

Next up…part 2, what’s my work out routine and how do I keep up at home?!

Look of the Day #3

LOTD

Happy First Day of June!! Although, the start of summer is officially this month, it is only going to reach the low 60’s today. We have a way to go until we are spending days at the beach with 80 degree weather.

Today’s look of the day is a lightweight outfit you can wear on cool mornings and warmer afternoons. I chose to wear a busy top as my accent article of clothing and paired it with a neutral pair of pants and shoes.

The top is from Francesca’s, which is one of my favorite stores. They always have fun, unique clothing that you won’t find at big department stores. I always find different pieces of clothing to add to my closet. I have worn this lightweight, silky top during all four seasons. You can dress it up with a pencil skirt and heels for a day at the office or dress it down with a pair of jeans or leggings for a day of getting errands done. In the summer, I have even worn this top with a pair of Bermuda shorts and it worked great. I love clothes that can be paired with several kinds of bottoms.   My leggings are from Target. I like the washed out blue jean look with my top.   I decided to pair my top with leggings since it’s supposed to warm up in the afternoon, but I typically wear jeans with the top. Lastly, to get into the summer mode, I wore a pair of tan sandals from Kelly and Katie. They have fantastic prices, they are comfortable and stylish!

Here’s a little look into what I’m wearing today. Let me know what you would wear with this top. I love getting suggestions for new outfits!

Happy Thursday!!

A Few of My Favorite Things: Nail Polish

Happy (belated) Memorial Day! I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend! I know, I did! It’s always fun to start summer off with family, friends, and good food!

Summer is upon us and that means it’s time for flip flops, sandals, and toes out! I love having my nails done for the summer especially when I spend so much time outside.

My favorite brand of nail polish is Chrome Girl! I have been ordering through them for a few years and I have never been disappointed. They are made in the USA, and are 8 free meaning they have no harsh chemicals! Both were huge things for me when it comes to beauty products! They have many nail colors as well as nail care products such as a base coats, top coats,  a matte finish, and gel finish! They also have nail polish remover which comes in unscented, piña colada, and green tea and jasmine among other scents. This is the only brand I wear.

A few highlights of the brand include:
1) It is long lasting and durable. I can wear the same polish for over a week with no chips!! Crazy, right?!
2) There are so many colors to choose from, it’s hard to choose what to get. Plus the names are so creative and cute.
3) They always are having great deals and sales. For example, until tomorrow 5/31, EVERYTHING IS 50% off!! Crazy?! The code to use at checkout is Memorialday50. You can find them on Instagram and twitter as well as their website!

Right now I’m wearing pinky promises which is a bubble gum pink.
Now, this is not an advertisement or anything like that. I’m just sharing one of my FAVORITE beauty products. Go ahead and check them out, I know I’m going to go and order new polish for 50% off!!

Look of the Day #2

LOTD

Today’s outfit has been my go-to outfit for spring!! I have worn this outfit or a variation of it SO many times. I’ve worn it to classes, soccer games, and shopping. It’s a super simple look and it can be changed for every person.
I have been wearing my converse which are my favorites for my shoes. Black leggings which I love for comfort or you can go with black jeans which I have also worn with it to dress it up. The leggings I’m wearing are from Forever 21, but I’ve gotten leggings from Gap, Old Navy, even Target! You can change it to fit the occasion, I’ve kept my look causal with a simple gray or white t-shirt but I’ve also dressed it up with a fun blouse. My jean jacket is my absolute favorite!! I’ve worn it with so many outfits. It’s lightweight and can be worn with t-shirt dresses, leggings, dark pants…Anything! I got my jacket from Old Navy.
Spring is been pretty chilly so I like wearing layers in case it gets warmer later in the day. Well, I’m off to another soccer game with my spring uniform on! Until next week…xoxo

Fashion Fun Ways to Organize

How to Organize: Your Make-Up

Make up is important to every girl and women. No matter if you are a tom-boy or girly girl, you use some type of make-up. I always make sure my make-up is organized and cleaned. Germs are found everywhere and are easily transmitted from your cosmetic bag or drawer, to your brushes and eventually your face. One way to prevent the spread of germs is to wash your brushes with warm water and soap. It only takes a few minutes and it is better in the long run.

One of the best things about organizing your makeup is that you can work with what you have. You can organize it in several small make up bags if you are always on the go, in a drawer in your bathroom, or you can buy cosmetic organizers. I am a college student so for most the year I’m in two places. I have used the cosmetic organizers for a few years now and I’m a huge fan! They are small and compact so I can use them in my dorm room and they don’t take up a lot of space. I also use them at home in my bedroom to keep my make-up organized. I got mine from Marshalls for around $20.00. I have been using the same one for a few years and I have no complaints.  It cleans easy and it is clear so it is seen through. Marshalls also has similar ones,  there are other styles that are bigger and smaller. They are always bringing in new types and styles, so there is something for everyone.  I like to see my make-up and brushes laid out and in front of me where they are easily accessible.

Here’s the front view of my make-up organizer.

Here’s the view from above.

Here’s a quick look in my make-up organizers. I have all my brushes organized in the back by size and width. In front of my brushes, I have my mascara, and eyebrow tools.  Along the one side I have all my nail polish, I like to have it visible, in case I need to do a color change for an outfit. Along the opposite side, I have my blush and a few eye shadow palates. I also have my lipsticks and concealers as well. In the center I have my foundation, sponges, and perfume that I wear every day. I have a pretty basic make-up routine that I will share later, but for now here is how I keep all my cosmetics organized and cleaned. Till next time… xoxo

Look of the Day #1

Look of the Day (LOTD) #1

Once a week, I will post one of my favorite outfits of the week, along with the accessories and where to wear it. As a college student, I have found that you do not have to wear sweat pants and a hoodie every day to class. You can dress cute and comfortable and it still be affordable.

This is one of my favorite dresses. I have it both in gray and burgundy. I got it from Old Navy along with the sandals in the early spring. The necklace is from Francesca’s, which is one of my favorite stores. The dress is lightweight and comfortable. I have worn this dress in both colors on multiple occasions. I wore it in burgundy to class once for a presentation and added a blazer to dress it up.   I have also worn it out  to dinner with friends.

I love finding clothes that can be mixed and matched and worn it with different outfits for separate occasions.   You can dress it up with heels and tights in the winter and add a blazer to it. In the spring and summer, you can dress it down with a pair of ballet flats or sandals.

This week I decided to wear it for a day at work. I work in an office so I must dress professional. I paired this dress with gray sandals, a long silver necklace, and silver earrings to dress it up a bit. It was perfect for a spring day. Happy Thursday!!
